Peter sold us his Porsche 911 Carrera S and Rahul his Mercedes-AMG GLC 43. Roy's sale meant working with his lenders. Here is what they said, in their own words.
An effortless experience in selling my Porsche Carrera S, getting the price I asked for my car. You have restored my faith in this process of selling a car.
“No haggling, or dealerships trying to get a lower price. In less than 3 business days I had an inspection completed, my car sold, with funds cleared in my bank account.”
Rahul A Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe, Sylvania NSW “They helped me through the transaction of a high value car and made it very pleasant. From paperwork and working with the lenders, to a personal touch.”
Roy Mercedes-Benz GLE 450

How selling your S3 works
Four steps. Your part takes about a minute, and you are paid before the car leaves your driveway.
Tell us about your car
Make, model, year and kilometres. A minute on the form, or a quick call.
Get a genuine offer
We call you, check a few details and make a cash offer. Accept it or walk away.
Get paid
A deposit once you accept. The balance lands in your account after an inspection.
We collect the car
Only after your funds have cleared, from your home or work, anywhere in Australia.
What affects your S3's offer
An online estimate cannot see your S3. These are the things a valuer asks about, and what you can do about each one before you call.
Before or after the update
The 2025 update brought more power, a rear torque splitter and revised front suspension. Give us the build date or VIN and we confirm which version you have on the call.
Modifications and tunes
A standard S3 is the easiest to price. A software tune, aftermarket exhaust, wheels or lowered suspension narrows the pool of buyers. Tell us everything that has changed, keep the receipts and keep the original parts. More in accessories, modifications and resale value.
Service history
Newer Audis often have their servicing recorded digitally rather than stamped in a book. Ask an Audi service department for a printout, and keep itemised invoices from any independent workshop. See how service history affects value.
Both keys
A buyer expects two keys. A missing one is an easy reason to offer less, so find the spare or tell us upfront. See selling a car with one key.
Tyres, brakes and wheels
Buyers of quick cars look first at the parts that wear hardest. Matching tyres with even wear, brakes without a lip or vibration, and wheels free of kerb marks all make the offer simpler. Keep receipts for recent work.
Factory options
Packages such as Premium Plus, and the factory Akrapovič exhaust offered on the updated car, are part of the specification. Your original invoice or delivery paperwork shows what was fitted.

Selling an S3: what to know before you call
Which version you have, the options worth mentioning, recalls and warranty, timing, finance and the handover.
The quickest way to a fair offer on an S3 is to know exactly which version you have, what it left the factory with and what has changed since. Have those answers ready, along with your service records and both keys, and the valuer can price your car on the call instead of pricing the unknowns.
Which S3 do you have?
The S3 comes as a five-door Sportback or a four-door sedan. Both use a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and all-wheel drive, according to CarExpert’s Australian specifications. Buyers usually search for one body style or the other, so it is the first thing a valuer asks.
The bigger split is whether your car was built before or after the update that reached Australia in the first half of 2025. CarExpert reported these changes:
| What changed in the 2025 update | Why it matters when you sell |
|---|---|
| Power and torque up 17kW and 20Nm, to 245kW and 420Nm | The updated car is the quicker S3, and enthusiasts ask which one it is |
| A rear torque splitter, using a clutch in the rear differential | The same idea as the Golf R and RS 3, and a feature buyers look for |
| Revised front suspension with more negative camber, and larger front brake rotors | Front brake parts differ between the two, so keep receipts for brake work |
| A 15-speaker Sonos sound system, where the earlier car listed Bang & Olufsen | An easy way to tell the versions apart from the driver’s seat |
| A factory Akrapovič titanium exhaust offered for the first time | A factory option, not an aftermarket change |
If you are not sure which version you have, the build date on your paperwork and the VIN settle it. Give us either on the call. A newer S3 is not automatically the easier car to sell, though. An earlier one with full records, two keys and no surprises can be simpler to price than a later one with gaps.
Factory options worth mentioning
Factory-fitted options are part of the car’s specification, so list them when you send your S3 through. Your original invoice or delivery paperwork shows what the car was built with.
- Premium Plus package. On the current-shape S3 as first priced for Australia, CarExpert listed it as adding a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, surround-view camera and a power driver’s seat with memory. A Premium Plus package was offered again with the 2025 update.
- Launch Edition package. Offered with the 2025 update.
- Akrapovič titanium exhaust. A factory option for the updated Sportback and sedan, according to CarExpert.
Dealer-fitted accessories and aftermarket parts are a different matter. Keep the invoices, keep any original parts you removed, and read our guide to accessories, modifications and resale value before spending money reversing anything. Our longer guide to selling an S3 without the low-ballers covers tunes, exhausts and wheels in more detail.
What the inspection looks at on an S3
The inspection happens after you accept our offer, at a time and place that suits you. On a performance car, the inspector spends most time on the parts that work hardest:
- Tyres: matching brands, even wear across each tyre and the tread left.
- Brakes: a lip on the discs, vibration under braking or a pad warning.
- Wheels: kerb marks on low-profile rims.
- Gearbox: smooth take-off and clean shifts from the dual-clutch automatic.
- Dash warnings: any message, including one that comes and goes.
- Signs of a tune: changed software, intake or exhaust parts.
- Keys and records: both keys, and a service history that matches the kilometres.
If your servicing was recorded digitally, ask an Audi service department for a printout before the inspection. Tell the valuer about anything you already know, such as tyres due or a kerbed wheel. The offer then reflects it from the start, rather than changing at the inspection.
Recalls and warranty: sort them before you sell
An open recall doesn’t stop you selling, but buyers check for one by VIN. Search your 17-character VIN on vehiclerecalls.gov.au, the Australian Government’s recall site. Then ask an Audi service department whether any recall or service campaign is still open on your car. Recall work is done free at a dealer for the brand, so book it in if you have time, and keep the job card. Our guide to checking for open recalls walks through the search step by step.
Know when your factory warranty started and whether a prepaid service plan is still running, because both come up on the call. On the newest S3s in our range, a good share of the warranty may be left. Our guide to whether remaining warranty adds value explains what to check in your booklet.
When to sell your S3
Three things are worth weighing:
- The next update. CarExpert reported in June 2026 that an updated A3, S3 and RS 3 is due in Australia in the first half of 2027. It gets bigger screens, with the climate controls moved into a new panoramic display. When it lands, your car becomes the outgoing version. Nobody can say in advance what that does to used prices, and we don’t try.
- Kilometres. We buy S3s with 100,000 km or less. If yours is getting close, an offer now keeps it inside that range. Already over? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.
- Big bills coming up. If a major service, new tyres or brakes are due, get an offer first. Then you can decide whether the work is worth doing before you sell.
Selling an S3 that is still under finance
You can sell your S3 with money owing on it. Ask your lender for a payout figure before the call. Our guide to car loan payout letters explains what it shows and how long it lasts.
We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay any equity into your account. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
Paperwork and handover
We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership. In most states you still lodge a notice of disposal yourself, and we’ll make sure it’s done correctly: it’s usually a quick online form. When you sell to a licensed dealer, the private-sale roadworthy or safety certificate rule usually doesn’t apply. Rules differ by state, so we confirm what applies to your S3 on the call.
Before collection day, take out your e-tag, unpair your phones, clear saved addresses and remove the car from any manufacturer app. Leave a factory reset of the infotainment system until the money has cleared. Keep your insurance active until the car has been collected.
How selling your S3 to us works
Send us the details or call 1800 73 55 73. You get a genuine offer by phone from a licensed dealer run by a valuer who has priced cars since 1992, not an online estimate. Accept it and a deposit is often paid the same day. The inspection follows at a time and place that suits you, and the balance goes into your bank account. We collect the car, anywhere in Australia, only after you confirm the funds have cleared. The valuation is free, with no obligation and no fees taken out of the offer. There is more detail on how it works.
No strangers driving your S3. Paid before it leaves.
Private sales go wrong at the handover: fake bank transfers, cheques that bounce, cars driven off before the money lands. We turned the order around so that never happens to you.
“I was paid before Autohaus took possession of my car, which from my experience normally doesn’t happen.”
No strangers at your door
No test drives, no tyre-kickers, no one turning up and haggling on the driveway.
Deposit first
Accept our offer and we pay a deposit, often the same day, before anyone inspects the car.
Balance cleared before pickup
The rest is paid into your account. We collect only once you confirm it has cleared.

Questions about selling your S3
Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.
1800 73 55 73Do you buy both the S3 Sportback and the S3 sedan?
Yes. We buy both body styles, built before or after the 2025 update, as long as the car is 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. Tell us which one you have and the build date, and we confirm the exact version on the call.
Will you buy my S3 if it has been tuned or modified?
Send it through with a full list of what has been changed and we will tell you straight away if we can help. A standard S3 is the easiest to price, and a tune, exhaust, wheels or lowered suspension can lower the offer rather than raise it. Mention every change on the call so the offer reflects the car as it really is.
My S3 has the factory Akrapovič exhaust. Should I mention it?
Yes. It was offered as a factory option on the updated S3, so it is part of the car's specification rather than an aftermarket change. Have the invoice or delivery paperwork that lists it, so it is not mistaken for an aftermarket system at the inspection.
Should I wait for the next S3 update before selling?
That is your call. CarExpert reported in June 2026 that an updated A3, S3 and RS 3 is due in Australia in the first half of 2027. We do not predict what that will do to used prices, but a free valuation now gives you a firm number to weigh against waiting, while the kilometres keep adding up.
What cars are you buying right now?
We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.
When do I get paid?
Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.
Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?
Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
