- In Tasmania, the seller must tell the Registrar of Motor Vehicles within 7 days of the sale by lodging a Notice of Disposal, online or through Service Tasmania. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork and help you lodge the notice, so the car comes off your name properly.

- Usually not needed. Tasmania does not require a roadworthy or safety certificate to sell or transfer a registered car, and you usually do not need one to sell to a licensed dealer. Inspections apply in other situations, such as re-registering a car that has been off the road for a while, and we confirm what applies to your car on the call.
- Good to know
- Motor vehicle duty and the transfer fee are the buyer's costs in Tasmania, so you pay neither when you sell to us. Any registration left on the car, including the MAIB injury cover that comes with Tasmanian rego, stays with the car.

When do I get paid?
Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.
Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?
Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
