Sell your car in Central Coast

Step 1 of 3: your car

Your car

Free, no obligation Takes about a minute Paid before pickup

We buy cars all over the Central Coast

From Umina Beach and Woy Woy on the peninsula to Gosford, Erina, Terrigal and Avoca Beach, and north to Tuggerah, Wyong, Toukley and Budgewoi, we can buy your car. We are a licensed NSW motor dealer, MD 077404 (Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd), buying cars Australia-wide. The business is run by a valuer who has priced cars since 1992.

The cars we buy on the Coast

Coast vehicles work hard. Tradies run utes between jobs from Kariong to Lake Haven, and plenty of locals commute down the M1 to Sydney or up to Newcastle. We buy the Toyota HiLux, the Ford Ranger and every other late-model ute. We also buy commuter cars such as the Toyota Corolla and small SUVs like the Kia Sportage, along with family cars, 4WDs and European models.

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs from 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. Older, or more kilometres on the clock? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car on the Coast without the hassle

Selling privately on the Coast means a listing, a run of messages and strangers turning up for test drives. Payment scams are common too, so you need to be sure the money is real before the keys go. The other option is the drive down the M1 to trade it in at a Sydney dealer, which can take most of a day.

When you sell your car to us, you stay put. You get a genuine offer by phone, not an online estimate, and a deposit often the same day. The inspection happens at a time and place that suits you, at home in Kincumber or at work in Somersby. The balance is paid into your bank account, and the car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared. If there is finance owing, we deal with your lender directly and pay you any equity. Read how it works or ask for a free valuation. Is the second car just sitting in the carport? Paperwork in New South Wales

In NSW the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service NSW within 14 days of the sale, and Service NSW says to do it immediately after you sell. When you sell to us, you enter our licence number, MD 077404, and Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd where a buyer’s licence would go. We prepare the sale paperwork and make sure your notice is done correctly. There is usually nothing to book: Service NSW says you will not need a pink slip to transfer a current NSW registration. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Our guide to selling a car in NSW has the detail, and selling a car in Australia covers the other states. We also buy cars up the M1 in Newcastle and across Broken Bay on the Northern Beaches.

What we are buying right now

Cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs of any make, 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Finance owing is fine. Older or higher-km car? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in New South Wales

The practical side, so nothing catches you out. Rules change from time to time, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Registration authority
Transport for NSW, through Service NSW
Transfer of ownership
In NSW the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service NSW within 14 days of the sale, and Service NSW says to do it immediately after you sell. You can lodge it online with a MyServiceNSW Account or on the paper form. When you sell to us, you enter our motor dealer licence number (MD 077404) and business name, Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd, in place of a buyer's licence. We prepare the sale paperwork and make sure your notice of disposal is done correctly, so you are not held responsible for parking or driving fines after the sale.
Roadworthy certificate
Usually nothing to book. Service NSW says you will not need a pink slip (safety inspection report) to transfer a current NSW registration. Pink slips are a yearly check at rego renewal for most light vehicles more than 5 years old, counted from the compliance plate date. If the rego expired more than 3 months ago, the car needs a blue slip (AUVIS inspection) before it can be registered again. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.
Good to know
In NSW the buyer pays the transfer fee and any stamp duty, so neither comes out of your offer when you sell to us. Your CTP green slip moves to the new owner automatically with the registration. On the day the car goes, take out your e-tag and delete the plate from your toll account. Want to keep personalised plates? Swap them for general plates before the sale.

What to have ready

  • Photo ID
  • Registration papers
  • Service logbook and receipts for any recent work
  • Loan details, if the car is under finance
  • Bank account details for your payment

We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership, so you do not have to chase forms.

Selling your car in Central Coast: your questions

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

1800 73 55 73
Do you buy cars in Gosford, Erina, Wyong and The Entrance?

Yes. We buy cars right across the Central Coast, from Woy Woy, Umina Beach and Gosford to Erina, Terrigal and Avoca Beach, and north to Tuggerah, Wyong, The Entrance, Toukley and Budgewoi. After you accept our offer, the inspection happens at a time and place that suits you.

How does collection work from the Central Coast?

You stay on the Coast. Once you accept our offer, we pay a deposit, often the same day, and inspect the car at a time and place that suits you. The balance is paid into your bank account. We arrange collection only after you confirm the funds have cleared.

What do I put on the notice of disposal when I sell to you?

In NSW the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service NSW within 14 days of the sale, and Service NSW says to do it immediately after you sell. You can lodge it online with a MyServiceNSW Account or on the paper form. In place of a buyer's licence, you enter our motor dealer licence number, MD 077404, and our business name, Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd. We prepare the sale paperwork and make sure your notice is done correctly, so you are not held responsible for parking or driving fines after the sale.

I commute to Sydney every day, so my car has done a lot of kilometres. Can I still sell it to you?

Send it through. We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs from 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. A daily run down the M1 from Wyong or Tuggerah adds up quickly, so if yours has gone past that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

What cars are you buying right now?

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

When do I get paid?

Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.

Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?

Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
