Sell your car in Toowoomba

Step 1 of 3: your car

Your car

Free, no obligation Takes about a minute Paid before pickup

We buy cars all over Toowoomba and the Downs

We buy your car anywhere in Toowoomba. That includes the older streets of East Toowoomba and Newtown, family homes in Glenvale, Kearneys Spring and Middle Ridge, and acreage around Highfields, Hodgson Vale and Cotswold Hills. Out on the Downs, we buy cars in Oakey, Pittsworth, Crows Nest, Clifton and Millmerran, and further west in Dalby.

We are a licensed motor dealer (NSW licence MD 077404, Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd) buying cars right across Australia, and the business is run by a valuer who has priced cars since 1992. You get a genuine offer by phone, and once you accept, we pay a deposit, often the same day. The inspection happens at a time and place that suits you, whether that is a house in Rangeville or a shed outside Cambooya. The balance goes into your bank account, and we collect the car only after you confirm the funds have cleared. See how it works.

The cars we buy in Toowoomba

The Darling Downs is ute and 4WD country. Utes like the Toyota HiLux, Isuzu D-MAX and Ford Ranger work grain and cattle properties across the Downs, and plenty run out west to the gas fields around Dalby and Chinchilla. In town, families drive SUVs like the Toyota RAV4. We can buy your car whichever of those it is. See what we look for in utes and 4WDs and SUVs.

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs from 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. Country kilometres add up, so if yours is older or has more on the clock, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in Toowoomba without the hassle

A private sale here can be slow, with fewer buyers, and you still get the scam messages, lowball offers and strangers who want a test drive. Some people drive down the range to Brisbane just to compare trade-in offers.

Sell your car to us instead. A free valuation has no obligation, and no fees come out of the offer. If the ute is registered to the farm business or your company, read how selling a company car works. Still under finance? We deal with your lender directly and pay you any equity.

We also buy cars south in Warwick, and down the range in Ipswich and Brisbane.

Paperwork in Queensland

In Queensland the seller starts the transfer. The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) says that after you sell, you must transfer the registration within 14 days, and the seller pays no fee. The buyer pays the transfer fee and vehicle registration duty. Until the transfer goes through, you remain liable for tolls and fines on a car still registered in your name, including tolls on the Toowoomba Bypass. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer, so your part is done correctly.

You usually do not need a safety certificate. TMR exempts cars traded to licensed motor dealers, so the private-sale rule usually does not apply. We confirm what applies to your car on the call. Read our guides to selling a car in Queensland and selling a car in Australia for every step.

What we are buying right now

Cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs of any make, 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Finance owing is fine. Older or higher-km car? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in Queensland

The practical side, so nothing catches you out. Rules change from time to time, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Transfer of ownership
In Queensland the seller starts the transfer. TMR says that after you sell, you must transfer the registration within 14 days, and the seller pays no fee. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer, so your part is done correctly.
Safety certificate
Usually not. Queensland's version of a roadworthy is the safety certificate, and a private buyer of a registered car is owed a current one. TMR exempts cars traded to licensed motor dealers, so when you sell to a licensed dealer the private-sale rule usually does not apply. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.
Good to know
Vehicle registration duty, Queensland's stamp duty on cars, is the buyer's cost, not yours. Compulsory third party (CTP) insurance is bundled with your Queensland rego. If you pay the rego by direct debit, TMR says to remove it so no payment comes out after you have sold the car.

What to have ready

  • Photo ID
  • Registration papers
  • Service logbook and receipts for any recent work
  • Loan details, if the car is under finance
  • Bank account details for your payment

We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership, so you do not have to chase forms.

Selling your car in Toowoomba: your questions

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

Do you buy cars in Highfields, Oakey and Pittsworth?

Yes. We buy cars right across Toowoomba, from Rangeville, Middle Ridge and Glenvale to Highfields, Cotswold Hills and Westbrook. Out on the Downs we buy in Oakey, Pittsworth, Crows Nest, Clifton and Millmerran, and further west in Dalby. The inspection happens at a time and place that suits you, whether that is in town or on the farm.

How does collection work from Toowoomba?

Once you accept our offer, we pay a deposit, often the same day. The inspection happens at a time and place that suits you, and the balance is paid into your bank account. We arrange collection from your home, workplace or property only after you confirm the funds have cleared.

Do I need a safety certificate to sell my car in Toowoomba?

Usually not. Queensland's version of a roadworthy is the safety certificate, and a private buyer of a registered car is owed a current one. TMR exempts cars traded to licensed motor dealers, so when you sell to a licensed dealer the private-sale rule usually does not apply. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Do you buy farm utes with high kilometres or extras fitted?

Send it through. We are buying utes and 4WDs from 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less, and if yours is older or has more kilometres, we will tell you straight away if we can help. Tell us on the call what is fitted, such as a tray, canopy, bull bar, winch or extra fuel tank, and anything that has been taken off, so the offer is made on the ute you actually have.

What cars are you buying right now?

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

When do I get paid?

Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.

Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?

Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
