Sell your car in Sunshine Coast
Step 1 of 3: your car
- Licensed dealer MD 077404NSW licence. Run by a valuer since 1992
- Paid before pickupFunds clear before the car leaves
- An offer on the callA real offer, not an online estimate
- Australia-wideWe arrange collection in every state
We buy cars all over the Sunshine Coast
We buy your car wherever it is on the Coast. That might be a unit in Mooloolaba, a family home in Sippy Downs or Baringa, a villa in Buderim or an acreage block out past Maleny or Eumundi. From Pelican Waters to Tewantin, you never have to drive the car anywhere.
We are a licensed motor dealer (NSW licence MD 077404, Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd) that buys cars right across Australia. The business is run by a valuer who has priced cars since 1992. You get a genuine offer by phone, and once you accept, we pay a deposit, often the same day. The inspection happens at a time and place that suits you. The balance goes into your bank account, and we collect the car only after you confirm the funds have cleared. That is how it works.
The cars we buy on the Sunshine Coast
Coast life runs on SUVs and utes. Families do the school run in a Toyota RAV4 or Kia Sportage. Tradies working the new estates around Baringa and Palmview drive a Toyota HiLux or Isuzu D-MAX. Plenty of people tow a caravan or a boat, and plenty of retirees have a second car sitting in the garage. We can buy your car in every case. See what we look for in utes and 4WDs and SUVs.
We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs from 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. Older or higher kilometres? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help. Got a car that hardly leaves the garage? Read about selling a car you don’t use.
Selling a car on the Sunshine Coast without the hassle
A private sale here can drag on. You field scam messages and lowball offers, then wait at home for strangers who want a test drive along the Sunshine Motorway. A trade-in is quicker, but you are negotiating with the business selling you the next car.
Sell your car to us instead. A free valuation has no obligation, and no fees come out of the offer. Car under finance? We deal with your lender directly and pay you any equity.
We also buy cars to the south in Caboolture and Moreton Bay, and to the north in Gympie.
Paperwork in Queensland
In Queensland the seller starts the transfer. The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) says that after you sell, you must transfer the registration within 14 days, and the seller pays no fee. The buyer pays the transfer fee and vehicle registration duty. Until the transfer goes through, you remain liable for tolls and fines on a car still in your name. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer, so your part is done correctly.
A safety certificate is usually not needed. A private buyer of a registered car is owed a current one, but TMR exempts cars traded to licensed motor dealers, so the private-sale rule usually does not apply. We confirm what applies to your car on the call. Read our guides to selling a car in Queensland and selling a car in Australia for every step.
What we are buying right now
Cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs of any make, 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Finance owing is fine. Older or higher-km car? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in Queensland
The practical side, so nothing catches you out. Rules change from time to time, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.
- Registration authority
- Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)
- Transfer of ownership
- In Queensland the seller starts the transfer. TMR says that after you sell, you must transfer the registration within 14 days, and the seller pays no fee. The buyer pays the transfer fee and vehicle registration duty. Until the transfer goes through, you remain liable for tolls and fines on a car still registered in your name. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer, so your part is done correctly.
- Safety certificate
- Usually not. Queensland's version of a roadworthy is the safety certificate, and a private buyer of a registered car is owed a current one. TMR exempts cars traded to licensed motor dealers, so when you sell to a licensed dealer the private-sale rule usually does not apply. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.
- Good to know
- Vehicle registration duty, Queensland's stamp duty on cars, is the buyer's cost, not yours. Compulsory third party (CTP) insurance is bundled with your Queensland rego. If you pay the rego by direct debit, TMR says to remove it so no payment comes out after you have sold the car.
What to have ready
- Photo ID
- Registration papers
- Service logbook and receipts for any recent work
- Loan details, if the car is under finance
- Bank account details for your payment
We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership, so you do not have to chase forms.

Selling your car in Sunshine Coast: your questions
Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.
1800 73 55 73Do you buy cars in Caloundra, Maroochydore and Noosa?
Yes. We buy cars right along the Sunshine Coast, from Pelican Waters and Caloundra through Kawana, Mooloolaba and Maroochydore to Coolum, Noosa and Tewantin. We buy in the hinterland too, including Nambour, Maleny, Eumundi and Beerwah. The inspection happens at a time and place that suits you.
How does collection work from the Sunshine Coast?
After you accept our offer, we pay a deposit, often the same day. The inspection happens at a time and place that suits you, and the balance is paid into your bank account. We arrange collection from your home or workplace only once you confirm the funds have cleared.
Who handles the rego transfer when I sell to you?
In Queensland the seller starts the transfer, and TMR says you must transfer the registration within 14 days of the sale. The seller pays no fee. The buyer pays the transfer fee and vehicle registration duty. Until the transfer goes through, you remain liable for tolls and fines on a car still registered in your name. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer, so your part is done correctly.
We are down to one car. Can you buy the second one?
Yes. Plenty of Sunshine Coast households end up with a second car that barely moves after retiring or starting to work from home. If it is 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less, we can make you a genuine offer by phone. If it is older or has more kilometres, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.
What cars are you buying right now?
We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.
When do I get paid?
Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.
Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?
Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
