What sellers say

Corey had a deposit in his account the night he sold us his LandCruiser. Spiros was paid before his car was collected, and Roy's sale included working with his lenders. Here is what they said, in their own words.

Read every review in full

Within 10 minutes of my enquiry I was contacted by Dean. It all happened in less than an hour from the initial enquiry. I had a deposit in my bank account that night.

Corey K Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series VX, Melbourne VIC
  • “I was paid before Autohaus took possession of my car, which from my experience normally doesn’t happen.”

    Spiros Mercedes-Benz SLK 250
  • “They helped me through the transaction of a high value car and made it very pleasant. From paperwork and working with the lenders, to a personal touch.”

Sell Your Car Australia is run by Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd, so some reviews mention Autohaus Australia.

How selling your Carnival works

Four steps. Your part takes about a minute, and you are paid before the car leaves your driveway.

  1. Tell us about your car

Make, model, year and kilometres. A minute on the form, or a quick call.

  2. Get a genuine offer

We call you, check a few details and make a cash offer. Accept it or walk away.

  3. Get paid

A deposit once you accept. The balance lands in your account after an inspection.

  4. We collect the car

Only after your funds have cleared, from your home or work, anywhere in Australia.

What affects your Carnival's value

An online estimate can't tell a gently driven Carnival from one that has carried the footy team every weekend. These are the things a valuer looks at.

  • Engine and grade

V6 petrol, 2.2 diesel or 1.6 turbo hybrid, and where it sits in the range from S to GT-Line. Two Carnivals of the same year can be priced very differently, so give us the exact grade and engine.

  • Sliding door recall

REC-005685 covers KA4 Carnivals built from 2020 to 2023: the power sliding door system may not warn occupants while it operates. Check your VIN and book any open work, which is free at a Kia dealer. More in checking open recalls before you sell.

  • Family wear

Seat stains, kick marks on seat backs, scuffed sills and car-park dings on the sliding doors are all checked at inspection. Mention them upfront so there are no surprises.

  • Warranty balance

Kia says the balance of its 7-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty stays with the car for the next owner. Have the warranty start date handy. More in whether remaining warranty adds value.

  • Service history

A logbook stamped on time is the simplest proof that a hard-working family car has been looked after. Keep the receipts for tyres, brakes and any recall work.

  • Kilometres

Lower kilometres for the year generally mean a stronger offer. Holiday trips add up quickly, so a service record that keeps pace with them matters.

Selling a Kia Carnival: what to know

Which Carnival you have, what a buyer checks, the recalls to clear, when to sell and how finance works.

Selling a Kia Carnival is simplest when you can say exactly which one you have: the year, the engine, the grade, and whether it was built before or after the 2024 facelift. Add the recall status, the warranty start date and any finance owing, and a licensed dealer can make you a genuine offer on the first call.

This page covers what matters on a Carnival in particular and what to have ready before you call. For the longer story of the KA4 and its recalls, read our guide to selling a used Kia Carnival.

Which Carnival do you have?

A 2021-on Carnival is almost certainly the fourth generation, model code KA4. The line-up has changed more than once since then, so the same badge can mean different things in different years.

Range Grades Engines
2021 to 2023 S, Si, SLi, Platinum, plus a Special Edition in 2023 3.5 V6 petrol or 2.2 turbo-diesel
2024 facelift S, Sport, Sport+, GT-Line Lite, GT-Line V6 or diesel, with the 1.6 turbo hybrid in GT-Line only at launch
Current range S, Sport+, GT-Line Diesel or hybrid in each grade

The 2021 and 2023 line-ups come from CarExpert’s pricing reports. The facelift grades come from carsales, which reported the new model arriving in May 2024. CarExpert reported in January 2026 that Kia had dropped the V6 because of the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard, with remaining stock expected to clear by the end of March. As at October 2026, Kia’s Australian site lists the S, Sport+ and GT-Line, each with the diesel or the hybrid.

The original sale contract will usually show your grade. If you are not sure, tell us what you know and we will go through it on the call.

What a buyer checks on a Carnival

A Carnival is bought for its doors, its seats and its space, so that is where any buyer starts. Expect them to check:

  • Both power sliding doors, opened and closed from the button, the handle and the key, all the way without stopping or grinding.
  • The second and third rows, slid, folded and lifted back into place, with the seat rails clear and the belts retracting.
  • Upholstery and trim: stains, kick marks on seat backs, and scuffs on the sills and door trims.
  • Panels and wheels: car-park dings on the sliding doors, scraped bumpers and kerbed wheels.
  • Tyres and brakes, because school runs and long trips wear both.
  • The paperwork: the stamped logbook, any recall job cards and the spare key.

Normal family wear is expected on a people mover. What matters is that you describe it honestly on the call and in your photos, so there are no surprises at the inspection. Take the child seats out, clear the seat rails and empty the cargo area first, so the buyer sees the car rather than the school year it has just been through.

Recalls to clear before you sell

Two recalls on the Australian Government’s vehicle recall site matter most for a 2021-on Carnival.

Recall Carnivals listed The problem
REC-005685 10,046 KA4s built 2020 to 2023 The power sliding door system may not warn occupants while it is operating
REC-005878 627 2.2 diesels from 2023 A wiring harness fault at the crank sensor can cause the engine to stall

A family buyer asks about the sliding doors first, because children are usually the ones standing beside them. Check your VIN on the government recall search, book any open work with a Kia dealer, where recall repairs are free, and keep the job card with the logbook.

These are not the only recalls a car can have, and the lists change, so go by your VIN rather than this table. Our guide to checking open recalls before you sell shows how to read the results.

Warranty, servicing and extras

Kia’s warranty page says the balance of its 7-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty “remains with the vehicle” for the next owner. Most Carnivals in our buying range still have some of that cover left, so find the warranty start date in the service book or the original sale paperwork.

Here is a hypothetical example. If your Carnival’s warranty started in March 2022, it runs until March 2029. A buyer who takes the car over in October 2026 gets about two and a half years of factory cover.

Keep the logbook stamped on time and the receipts in one place, including tyres, brakes and any recall work. If the car has genuine accessories, such as a tow bar, roof racks or weather shields, mention them when you send it through.

When to sell your Carnival

No one can name the perfect month, but a few things are particular to the Carnival.

If your Carnival is Keep in mind
A V6 petrol Kia no longer sells the V6 new, so anyone who wants one is buying used. That alone does not set the price.
An early GT-Line hybrid New-car buyers can now get a hybrid in the S and Sport+ as well as the GT-Line.
Getting close to 100,000 km It is still inside our buying range today. Past that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.
Near the end of its warranty Each month that passes is a month less factory cover for the next owner.
Needed until your next car arrives Raise the timing on the call before you accept an offer.

Often the trigger is simply that the family has changed: the children have grown, or a smaller SUV now does the job. Our guide to the best time to sell a near-new car looks at kilometres, warranty and model changes in more detail.

Finance and paperwork

You can sell a Carnival that is still under finance. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement. Ask your lender for a current payout figure before you call, and read how it works on our page about selling a car under finance. If the Carnival is on a novated lease, your employer and the lease company are involved too, so check your lease terms early.

We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership. In most states the seller lodges a notice of disposal, which is a quick online form, and we will make sure yours is done correctly. Usually no roadworthy or safety certificate is needed when you sell to us. Rules differ by state, and we confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Before the car is collected, remove your toll tag and delete the plate from your toll account. Unpair your phones and clear saved addresses and garage door codes from the infotainment system.

Selling your Carnival to us

Sell Your Car Australia is run by Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd, a NSW licensed motor dealer (MD 077404), and by a valuer who has priced cars since 1992 and supplies dealerships nationwide. We buy Carnivals and other cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs from 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less.

You get a genuine offer by phone from a licensed dealer, not an online estimate. If you accept, the deposit is often paid the same day. The inspection happens after you accept, at a time and place that suits you. The balance goes into your bank account, and the Carnival is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared. There are no strangers test-driving the family car, and we arrange collection anywhere in Australia.

The valuation is free, there is no obligation and no fees come out of the offer. Call 1800 73 55 73 or use the form on this page, and see how it works for each step. Selling another SUV as well? We buy those too: see sell my SUV.

Your money clears before your keys leave your hand

Private sales go wrong at the handover: fake bank transfers, cheques that bounce, cars driven off before the money lands. We turned the order around so that never happens to you.

“I was paid before Autohaus took possession of my car, which from my experience normally doesn’t happen.”

Spiros, Mercedes-Benz SLK 250
  • No strangers at your door

No test drives, no tyre-kickers, no one turning up and haggling on the driveway.

  • Deposit first

Accept our offer and we pay a deposit, often the same day, before anyone inspects the car.

  • Balance cleared before pickup

The rest is paid into your account. We collect only once you confirm it has cleared.

  • A licensed dealer, on the record

Questions about selling your Carnival

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

1800 73 55 73
Do you buy the hybrid and the V6 as well as the diesel?

Yes. We buy all three Carnival engines: the 3.5 V6 petrol, the 2.2 turbo-diesel and the 1.6 turbo hybrid. That covers every grade, from the pre-facelift S, Si, SLi, Special Edition and Platinum to the facelifted S, Sport, Sport+, GT-Line Lite and GT-Line.

Is the sliding door recall a problem when I sell?

It only comes up if the work is still open. REC-005685 covers KA4 Carnivals built from 2020 to 2023, so check your VIN at vehiclerecalls.gov.au. Recall repairs are free at a Kia dealer, and having it done before the inspection, with the job card in the logbook, takes one question off the table. If the work is still outstanding, tell us on the call.

Does Kia's 7-year warranty go to the next owner?

Yes. Kia Australia says the balance of its 7-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty remains with the vehicle for the benefit of the new owner. Have the warranty start date and the stamped logbook ready when you call, so we can see how much factory cover is left.

My Carnival has the usual family wear. Is that a problem?

Not in itself. Kick marks, seat stains, scuffed sills and car-park dings are normal on a people mover, and any buyer allows for them. Describe them honestly on the call and in your photos so there are no surprises at the inspection. An hour spent clearing the seat rails and cargo area is time well spent.

What should I have ready when I call about my Carnival?

The year, kilometres, grade and engine, the rego number or VIN, and the warranty start date. Keep the logbook and any recall job cards nearby, plus a payout figure from your lender if there is finance owing. A few photos, including the seats and both sliding doors, help too.

What cars are you buying right now?

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

When do I get paid?

Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.

Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?

Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
