How selling your GLC works
Four steps. Your part takes about a minute, and you are paid before the car leaves your driveway.
Tell us about your car
Make, model, year and kilometres. A minute on the form, or a quick call.
Get a genuine offer
We call you, check a few details and make a cash offer. Accept it or walk away.
Get paid
A deposit once you accept. The balance lands in your account after an inspection.
We collect the car
Only after your funds have cleared, from your home or work, anywhere in Australia.
What affects your GLC offer
No online calculator knows which GLC you have or how it has been looked after. These are the things a valuer asks about, and what you can do about each one.
First generation or X254
A GLC sold new before mid-2023 is the first generation. From June 2023 it is the X254, which launched as a 48V mild-hybrid GLC 300 4MATIC. The two are priced as different cars, so give us the build date from the compliance plate or the VIN.
Coupe, AMG and plug-in badges
A GLC 300 SUV, a Coupe, an AMG GLC 43 and a plug-in hybrid each sell to a different group of buyers. Give us the exact badge, body and any factory options. We buy AMGs the same way we buy any prestige car.
Open recalls
Recalls on 2021-on GLCs include REC-005791 (front tow point on X254s built 2022 to 2023) and REC-005714 (a footwell cover that can interfere with the accelerator on some GLC 300s). The fix is free at a Mercedes-Benz dealer. See how to check open recalls.
Service history
Mercedes-Benz records servicing digitally, so ask a workshop to print the full history. CarExpert lists the current GLC service interval as 12 months or 25,000 km, and a missed year stands out. More in how service history affects value.
Finance owing
Finance does not stop a sale. We deal with your lender directly, pay out the loan and pay any equity into your account. Settlement usually takes 2 to 3 business days. Get a payout figure from your lender before you call.
Kilometres, keys and condition
Lower kilometres for the year generally mean a stronger offer. Both keys, kerbed wheels, tyre wear and any warning messages are checked at inspection, so mention them upfront and there are no surprises.
Free and no obligation. Or call 1800 73 55 73.

Selling a GLC: what to know first
Which GLC you have, what buyers check, the recalls to clear and how finance is handled when you sell.
To get a fair offer for a 2021-on Mercedes-Benz GLC, describe it exactly, clear any open recalls and have the service record and your lender’s payout figure ready. A licensed dealer can then price it by phone, pay a deposit, inspect it and pay the balance into your account before the car is collected.
For more on each generation and every recall, read our guide to selling a used Mercedes-Benz GLC.
Which GLC do you have?
Two generations of GLC fall inside our buying range. A GLC sold new in 2021, 2022 or the first half of 2023 is the first generation, known by its X253 code. The second generation, the X254, reached Australian showrooms in June 2023, CarExpert reported, so a GLC first registered from mid-2023 is most likely the newer car.
The X254 launched as a single variant, the GLC 300 4MATIC. Its 2.0-litre turbo four makes 190kW and 400Nm, and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system adds up to 17kW and 200Nm. The Coupe followed in late 2023, the AMGs in 2024, and a cheaper GLC 200 and a GLC 350e plug-in hybrid in 2025.
| First generation (X253) | Second generation (X254) | |
|---|---|---|
| Sold new | Until mid-2023 | From June 2023 |
| Entry grade | GLC 200, rear-wheel drive | GLC 200 4MATIC, from 2025 |
| Core grade | GLC 300 4MATIC | GLC 300 4MATIC, 48V mild hybrid |
| Plug-in hybrid | GLC 300 e 4MATIC | GLC 350e 4MATIC, from September 2025 |
| AMG GLC 43 | 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 | 2.0-litre turbo four with 48V, from March 2024 |
| AMG GLC 63 S | 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 | E Performance plug-in hybrid, from August 2024 |
| Coupe | GLC 300, AMG GLC 43, AMG GLC 63 S | GLC 300 from late 2023, AMG versions from 2024 |
The first-generation list is the 2022 range as CarExpert reported it. Not sure which you have? The build date on the compliance plate or your original invoice settles it.
Badges and options that change the offer
The badge is the biggest single difference between two GLCs of the same year. The Coupe and the AMGs each sell to a smaller group of buyers than the GLC 300 SUV.
The AMGs changed most between generations. In the X254, CarExpert reported, the GLC 43 swapped its V6 for a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 48-volt assistance, making 310kW and 500Nm. The GLC 63 S swapped its V8 for a plug-in hybrid with 500kW and 1,020Nm combined. They are very different cars, so be clear about which one you have.
Plug-in hybrids need their charging gear. CarExpert reported that the GLC 350e comes with two charging cables, one for home and one for public charging. Have both in the car at inspection, and the same goes for a GLC 300 e.
If you paid for factory options, find the original invoice or build sheet. Then give the full picture in one line. A made-up example: “2023 GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe, X254, 41,000 km, both keys, full Mercedes-Benz service history, no open recalls”.
What a buyer checks on a GLC
Private buyer or dealer, whoever buys your GLC works through much the same list.
| Check | What they look for | What to have ready |
|---|---|---|
| Servicing | A service every year, on time | A printout of the digital service record |
| Recalls | No open safety recalls | Dealer job cards |
| Warning messages | Nothing on the cluster, even now and then | Notes from the last service |
| Wheels and tyres | Kerb marks and even tyre wear | Recent tyre receipts |
| Plug-in hybrid | Charging cables and battery behaviour | Both cables |
| Warranty | How much factory cover is left | The warranty start date |
| Finance | A security interest on the PPSR | Your lender’s payout figure |
| Keys | Both keys present | Both keys |
Mercedes-Benz records servicing digitally rather than in a stamped paper book, so ask a Mercedes-Benz workshop to print the history for you. CarExpert lists the current GLC’s service interval as 12 months or 25,000 km, so a missed year shows up quickly. Keep receipts for tyres and brakes with it.
Recalls to clear before you sell
Run your VIN through the government’s vehicle recall search before you ask for offers. These are the GLC recalls we know of that can touch a 2021-on car. The list is not complete, so always check your own VIN.
| Recall | Which GLC | The problem |
|---|---|---|
| REC-005714 | Some GLC 300s | The footwell cover can interfere with the accelerator |
| REC-005791 | X254 GLCs built 2022 to 2023 | A fault with the front tow point |
| REC-006187 | Some GLCs with the 48V system, 2021 to 2023 | Injectors may switch off when leaving coasting mode, causing a loss of drive |
| REC-006414 | Some GLCs, 2022 to 2025 | Steering coupling bolts may not meet specification and could loosen |
| REC-006695 (August 2026) | GLC 300 4MATIC, AMG GLC 43 and AMG GLC 63 S E Performance | Water can damage a door-lock switch, so the car may not select Park when a door opens |
Owners of a 2022 to 2025 AMG GLC 63 S should also check REC-006318. Recall work is free at a Mercedes-Benz dealer. The details for the last three come from CarExpert’s recall reports.
The newest is the most likely to still be open. REC-006695 covers 58,822 Mercedes-Benz vehicles across many models, and Mercedes-Benz said it would fix cars once parts become available. Until then, select Park and apply the parking brake before getting out. If yours is waiting on parts, tell us on the call and keep the letter.
Our guide to checking open recalls before you sell explains how to read the results.
When to sell your GLC
Three things matter more than market chatter: your kilometres, your warranty and the new models arriving.
We buy GLCs 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. If yours is getting close to 100,000 km, selling before it crosses keeps it inside our buying range. If it has already gone past, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.
CarExpert lists the current GLC’s factory warranty as five years with unlimited kilometres. If your GLC’s warranty started in 2021 on those terms, it is ending about now. Buyers of a prestige SUV ask how much factory cover is left, so check your start date before you decide.
The range is also still changing. A fully electric GLC 400 joins petrol and plug-in hybrid GLCs in Australian showrooms from October 2026, CarExpert reported. Nobody can say yet what that does to used prices. If you are thinking of waiting, get a firm figure today so you are comparing real numbers.
Finance, GFV and paperwork
A GLC under finance can still be sold. When you sell to us, we deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay any equity into your account. That usually takes 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the offer, the difference has to be covered before settlement. Ask your lender for a payout figure first, because it can differ from the balance in your banking app. Our page on selling a car under finance explains the steps.
If your GLC is on a balloon or guaranteed future value (GFV) loan, compare a genuine offer with your payout figure before the term ends. Selling pays the loan out in full and closes the contract, and any equity above the payout comes to you. Our guide to GFV finance sets out the choices.
Before handover, remove the car from your Mercedes me app account if you use one, and clear paired phones and saved addresses from the screen.
We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership. We’ll make sure your notice of disposal is done correctly; in most states it’s a quick online form. Usually no roadworthy or safety certificate is needed when you sell to us, but rules differ by state and we confirm what applies on the call.
Selling your GLC to us
Sell Your Car Australia is run by Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd, a NSW licensed motor dealer (MD 077404). Your offer comes from a valuer who has priced cars since 1992 and supplies dealerships nationwide.
You get a genuine offer by phone, not an online estimate. If you accept, the deposit is often paid the same day. The inspection happens after that, at a time and place that suits you. The balance goes into your bank account, and the GLC is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared. We arrange collection anywhere in Australia. The valuation is free, there’s no obligation and no fees come out of the offer.

Your money clears before your keys leave your hand
Private sales go wrong at the handover: fake bank transfers, cheques that bounce, cars driven off before the money lands. We turned the order around so that never happens to you.
“I was paid before Autohaus took possession of my car, which from my experience normally doesn’t happen.”
No strangers at your door
No test drives, no tyre-kickers, no one turning up and haggling on the driveway.
Deposit first
Accept our offer and we pay a deposit, often the same day, before anyone inspects the car.
Balance cleared before pickup
The rest is paid into your account. We collect only once you confirm it has cleared.

Questions about selling your GLC
Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.
1800 73 55 73Do you buy the GLC Coupe and the AMG models?
Yes. We buy the GLC 300 Coupe and the AMG GLC 43 and GLC 63 S in SUV or Coupe form, from either generation, as long as the car is 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Privately, a Coupe or an AMG can take longer to sell because fewer buyers are shopping for one. Selling to us, the body and badge are priced into the offer on the call.
How do I tell if my GLC is the first generation or the X254?
The X254 reached Australian showrooms in June 2023, so a GLC sold new before then is the first generation (X253), and one sold new from mid-2023 is most likely an X254. The build date on the compliance plate or your original invoice will confirm it. If you are still not sure, give us the VIN on the call or ask a Mercedes-Benz dealer to check it.
Should I get GLC recall work done before I sell?
Yes, if you can get a booking. Recall work is free at a Mercedes-Benz dealer, and a finished job removes a question at inspection. Check your VIN on vehiclerecalls.gov.au first. If a recall is still waiting on parts, such as the August 2026 door-lock recall, tell us on the call and keep the letter from Mercedes-Benz.
My GLC is on a balloon or GFV loan. Can I still sell it?
Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan in full, which closes the contract, then pay any equity into your account. Settlement usually takes 2 to 3 business days. Ask your lender for a payout figure first. If you owe more than the offer, the difference has to be covered before settlement.
Do you buy the plug-in hybrid GLC 300 e and GLC 350e?
Yes, both, as long as the car is 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Have the charging cables with the car when it is inspected, along with the service history. Tell us on the call about any warning messages or charging problems, so the offer reflects the car as it is.
What cars are you buying right now?
We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.
When do I get paid?
Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.
Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?
Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
