Corey had a deposit the night he accepted, Rahul's funds cleared within three business days and Roy's sale involved his lenders. Different cars, the same steps your Corolla sale would follow.
Within 10 minutes of my enquiry I was contacted by Dean. It all happened in less than an hour from the initial enquiry. I had a deposit in my bank account that night.
“No haggling, or dealerships trying to get a lower price. In less than 3 business days I had an inspection completed, my car sold, with funds cleared in my bank account.”
Rahul A Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe, Sylvania NSW “They helped me through the transaction of a high value car and made it very pleasant. From paperwork and working with the lenders, to a personal touch.”
Roy Mercedes-Benz GLE 450

What affects your Corolla's offer
No online estimate knows which Corolla you have or how it has been looked after. These are the things a valuer asks about, and what you can do about each.
Hybrid or petrol
On 5 June 2024 Toyota announced it was closing petrol orders for the Corolla and Corolla Cross, leaving only the hybrid. The engine is one factor among several: the exact variant, kilometres, condition and history decide the figure.
Before or after the 2023 update
The updated hatch and sedan reached showrooms in November 2022 with a 103kW hybrid, 13kW more than before, and extra safety features. Go by the build date, not the year on the rego papers.
Brake ECU recall REC-006193
It covers 38,072 Corolla Hybrid hatches and sedans built from 2022 to 2024. The fix is free at a Toyota dealer. Check your VIN and keep the job card. More in checking for open recalls.
Hatch, sedan or Corolla Cross
They share a name, but buyers compare the Cross with small SUVs and the hatch and sedan with small cars. Grade counts too: Ascent Sport, SX or ZR, or GX, GXL or Atmos on the Cross.
Kilometres
Lower kilometres for the year generally mean a stronger offer. A logbook that keeps pace with the odometer backs the reading up.
Service history and keys
A stamped logbook, receipts for tyres and brakes, and both keys. See how service history affects value.

Selling a Corolla: what to know before you call
What a buyer checks on a 2021-or-newer Corolla, the changes since 2021 that affect its value, the recalls to sort first, and how the sale works when there's finance owing.
What does a buyer check on a Corolla?
The first thing any buyer wants to know is which Corolla you have. The hatch, sedan, Corolla Cross and GR Corolla share a name, but they’re compared with different cars and priced on their own terms. After that come the checks every late-model car gets.
Here’s what a valuer or a careful private buyer works through on a 2021-or-newer Corolla:
- Body style and grade. Hatch, sedan or Cross, then Ascent Sport, SX or ZR, or GX, GXL or Atmos on the Cross.
- Petrol or hybrid. Plus 2WD or AWD if it’s a Corolla Cross Hybrid.
- Build date. It shows whether the car has the late-2022 update. A Toyota dealer can confirm it from your VIN.
- Recall status. A VIN search on the government’s recall site, with REC-006193 first on the list for hybrids.
- Service history. Logbook stamps that keep pace with the kilometres, and receipts for tyres and brakes.
- Kilometres and condition. Scuffed wheels, bumper scrapes and worn seat bolsters all get noticed.
- Keys and extras. Both keys, the owner’s manual and anything else that came with the car.
- Finance. A PPSR search shows whether money is owed on the car.
Have those answers ready and the valuation call is short. Our guide to selling a used Corolla covers each one in depth.
How has the Corolla changed since 2021?
A 2021 Corolla and a 2024 Corolla can look much the same from the kerb, but a few changes matter when you sell.
| When | What changed | Why it matters when you sell |
|---|---|---|
| October 2022 | Corolla Cross small SUV arrives, petrol or hybrid | Every Cross sold new here dates from then on |
| November 2022 | Updated hatch and sedan with a 103kW hybrid | Check the build date, not the rego year |
| 5 June 2024 | Toyota announces petrol orders are closing for Corolla and Corolla Cross | A petrol car was ordered before the switch |
| 2025 | Next-generation Corolla previewed as a concept | A new model gives buyers a fresh comparison |
The November 2022 update, sold as the 2023 model, brought Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system. CarExpert reported 103kW combined, 13kW more than before, with a new lithium-ion battery that is 14 per cent lighter. The 2.0-litre petrol stayed at 126kW and 202Nm. Autonomous emergency braking gained motorcycle detection and junction assist, and emergency steering assist became standard across the range.
Does that make every updated Corolla worth more? Not on its own. Kilometres, condition and history still count, and a well-kept 2021 car can be a better buy than a tired 2023 one. But expect a buyer to ask for the build date.
Which grades and options matter?
Within each body style, grade is the next thing a valuer asks. CarExpert listed the updated hatch and sedan as Ascent Sport, SX and ZR, each with petrol or hybrid. The ZR is the top of the three and gained a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with the update.
The Corolla Cross is graded GX, GXL and Atmos. Its petrol version is front-wheel drive only. The hybrid comes with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the AWD version adds an electric motor on the rear axle, so say which one yours is.
The GR Corolla is a different car again: a 1.6-litre turbocharged hot hatch with all-wheel drive, listed here as the GR Corolla GTS. Its buyers ask closer questions than an everyday Corolla buyer does:
- Has it been modified, and are the original parts still with the car?
- Has it been used on a racetrack?
- How much life is left in the tyres and brakes?
- Is the service history complete, with receipts?
If yours is still standard, say so. If parts have been changed, list them. On any Corolla, mention genuine accessories, window tint or paint protection, and keep the receipts with the logbook.
Which recalls should you sort before selling?
REC-006193 is the one to check first. The government recall notice covers 38,072 Corolla Hybrid hatches and sedans built from 2022 to 2024. A software issue in the skid control ECU, part of the braking system, may mean the driver needs more pedal force, and braking distances may be longer. The build range takes in cars from both sides of the November 2022 update, so don’t assume yours is clear because of its model year.
| Recall | What it covers | What it involves |
|---|---|---|
| REC-006193 | 38,072 Corolla Hybrid hatches and sedans, built 2022 to 2024 | Brake ECU software: more pedal force, longer braking distances |
| REC-006191 | Corolla Cross and Corolla Sedan Hybrid, 2023 to 2024 | Read the government notice for the detail |
| REC-006390 | 69,586 Toyotas built 2022 to 2025, Corolla included | The instrument cluster display can stay blank; fixed with a software update |
No list in a guide is complete, and new recalls are added. Here’s how to check your own car:
- Find the VIN on your rego papers.
- Enter it in the government’s vehicle recall search.
- Ask a Toyota dealer to check the VIN for any work still outstanding.
- Book the work, which is free, and keep the job card once it’s done.
A brake-related recall is something buyers ask about early, so it’s worth sorting before anyone looks at the car. Our guide to checking open recalls before you sell explains how to read the results and what to tell a buyer if the work can’t be done in time.
When is the right time to sell?
Toyota previewed the next-generation Corolla with a concept at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show. In February 2026, CarExpert reported that the new car was expected to be revealed in the second half of 2026 and to reach Australia in the first half of 2027. Check the latest news before you plan around those dates.
When a new generation lands, a used Corolla buyer has one more car to compare yours with. Nobody can tell you in advance what that does to the price of your particular car, so the most reliable guide is a firm offer on the day.
Kilometres are the other clock. We buy cars from 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less, and a commuter Corolla can get there sooner than you expect. If yours is close, our guide to selling before 100,000 km covers what changes at that mark. If there’s factory warranty left, tell the valuer, and check your warranty booklet for what passes to the next owner.
Selling a Corolla with finance owing
If you’re still paying off your Corolla, you can still sell it. Ask your lender for a payout figure first: the amount needed to close the loan on a given day. It often differs from the balance in your banking app, because it can include interest and fees.
When you sell to us, we deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay any equity into your account. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the offer, that negative equity has to be covered before settlement, so knowing your payout figure before you accept tells you exactly where you stand. Our page on selling a car under finance walks through the numbers.
Paperwork and handover
Have these ready: photo ID, the rego papers, the service logbook and receipts, your bank details for the payment, and your loan details if there’s finance. We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership. We’ll also make sure your notice of disposal is done correctly; in most states it’s a quick online form.
Usually no roadworthy or safety certificate is needed when you sell to us. Rules differ by state, and we confirm what applies to your car on the call.
Corollas from the 2023 update have connected services. If you set up Toyota’s app, remove the car from your account before handover. On any Corolla, unpair your phone and clear saved addresses from the screen. Our guide to wiping personal data from your car has the full list.
Getting a firm offer on your Corolla
Once you know your body style, engine, grade, build date and recall status, you can decide how to sell. A private sale means explaining the update and the recalls to every caller, then handling the payment yourself. Selling to a licensed dealer means one conversation, one inspection and one buyer.
Sell Your Car Australia is run by Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd, a NSW licensed motor dealer (MD 077404), with a valuer who has priced cars since 1992. You get a genuine offer by phone, and the car is collected only after you confirm the balance has cleared in your account. The valuation is free, with no obligation. Request a free valuation online, or call 1800 73 55 73.
Your money clears before your keys leave your hand
Private sales go wrong at the handover: fake bank transfers, cheques that bounce, cars driven off before the money lands. We turned the order around so that never happens to you.
“I was paid before Autohaus took possession of my car, which from my experience normally doesn’t happen.”
No strangers at your door
No test drives, no tyre-kickers, no one turning up and haggling on the driveway.
Deposit first
Accept our offer and we pay a deposit, often the same day, before anyone inspects the car.
Balance cleared before pickup
The rest is paid into your account. We collect only once you confirm it has cleared.

Questions about selling your Corolla
Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.
1800 73 55 73Do you buy the Corolla Cross and GR Corolla?
Yes. We buy every Corolla body style: hatch, sedan, Corolla Cross and GR Corolla, petrol or hybrid, as long as it's 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Tell us the grade and, for a Corolla Cross Hybrid, whether it's 2WD or AWD. If your GR Corolla has been modified, list the changes when you send it through.
My Corolla Hybrid still needs the brake recall done. Can I still sell it?
Yes. An open recall doesn't stop a sale. The work is free at a Toyota dealer, so book it if you have time and keep the job card. If it can't be done before the sale, give us the recall number on the call so the offer is made with the full picture.
Is a hybrid Corolla worth more than a petrol one?
Not automatically. The engine is one factor, but the exact variant, kilometres, condition and service history decide the figure. We don't publish valuations online. You get a genuine offer for your exact Corolla by phone.
I bought my Corolla second-hand. How do I know which recalls were done?
Ask a Toyota dealer to check your VIN. They can tell you whether any recall work is still outstanding. Ask for the job card or a printout, because it answers the same question for the next owner.
I can only find one key. Can I still sell my Corolla?
Yes, but tell us on the call. A missing key is something every buyer notices, and replacing one is a cost the next owner has to cover, so it can affect the offer. If the spare might be at home somewhere, look for it before the inspection.
What cars are you buying right now?
We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.
When do I get paid?
Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.
Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?
Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
