Rahul sold us his Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe, Roy his Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 with lenders involved, and Chris his GLE 300 d. Here are their stories, in their own words.
No haggling, or dealerships trying to get a lower price. In less than 3 business days I had an inspection completed, my car sold, with funds cleared in my bank account.
“They helped me through the transaction of a high value car and made it very pleasant. From paperwork and working with the lenders, to a personal touch.”
Roy Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 “Dean communicated with me at every stage, from the preliminary enquiry to getting the vehicle inspected to the settlement and organising pick up.”

What affects your C-Class offer
An online estimate can't tell a 2021 W205 from a 2022 W206, or read your service record. These are the things a valuer asks about, and what you can do about each one.
W205 or W206
The W206 sedan went on sale here in February 2022 and cost more new than the car it replaced. A sedan sold new in 2021, or any C-Class coupe or cabriolet, is the older W205. Give us the build date and the exact badge.
Mild hybrid or plug-in
Every W206 is either a 48V mild hybrid or a plug-in hybrid, and the C350e plug-in opened for orders in May 2025. If yours plugs in, have the charging cable that came with it. More in selling a plug-in hybrid.
Open recalls
Recalls that can touch a 2021-on C-Class include REC-006187 (48V system), REC-005750 (battery ground bolts) and REC-006695 (door-lock switch, August 2026). See how to check open recalls.
Mercedes-Benz service record
Servicing is recorded in Mercedes-Benz's Digital Service Booklet. Ask your workshop for a printed Digital Service Report before you call, and keep receipts for tyres, brakes and anything done between services.
AMG, editions and packs
An AMG C 43 or C 63 S E Performance sells to a different buyer from a C200, and editions such as the AMG Line Plus Edition change the equipment. Name the variant and any pack, and keep the original invoice.
Finance owing
We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity, usually within 2 to 3 business days. Ask your lender for a payout figure first. See selling a car under finance.

Selling a C-Class: what to know first
What buyers check on a 2021-on C-Class, how the W205 and W206 differ, the recalls to clear and how finance is handled.
To get a fair offer for a 2021-on Mercedes-Benz C-Class, describe it exactly, clear any open recalls and have a printed service report ready. A licensed dealer can then price it by phone, pay a deposit, inspect it and pay the balance into your account before the car is collected.
This is the short version for C-Class owners. For more on the generations, the recall detail and how fast a C-Class loses value, read our full guide to selling a used Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Which C-Class do you have?
Two C-Class generations fall inside our buying range. The W205 is the older design. The W206 sedan replaced it in Australia in February 2022, after a launch delayed by the global chip shortage, according to Drive.
A sedan bought new in 2021 is almost certainly a W205, and most sedans first sold from 2022 are W206s. The W206 arrived here as a sedan only, so a C-Class coupe or cabriolet from 2021 on is the older design. CarExpert reported in 2024 that the new CLE had taken over from the C-Class coupe.
| W205 | W206 | |
|---|---|---|
| Sold new from 2021 | 2021 sedans, plus coupes and cabriolets | Sedans from February 2022 |
| Centre screen | Landscape screen, touchpad on the console | Portrait touchscreen in the middle of the dash |
| AMG Line styling | An option | Standard on every variant at launch |
If you’re not sure, the original invoice shows the model, or a Mercedes-Benz dealer can check the VIN. A valuer will ask, because “2022 C-Class” can mean either car.
Variants and options that change the offer
The W206 launched with two variants, according to Chasing Cars. The C200 has a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine making 150kW and 300Nm. The C300 has a 2.0-litre turbo making 190kW and 400Nm. Both are 48-volt mild hybrids, and AMG Line styling was standard on both.
The range has grown since. CarExpert reported that the C350e plug-in hybrid opened for orders in May 2025, bringing a plug-in back to the C-Class after the older C300e was dropped.
AMG versions sell to a smaller, more particular group of buyers. The current Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC uses a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder with 48-volt mild-hybrid help and all-wheel drive. The C 63 S E Performance is a four-cylinder plug-in hybrid with combined outputs of 500kW and 1,020Nm, and CarExpert reported its Australian deliveries were due to start in January 2024.
Editions matter too. Recent ranges have included the AMG Line Plus Edition, Night Edition and Sport Edition, and CarExpert reported a C 43 4MATIC Edition R+ in May 2026. Two cars with the same badge can carry quite different equipment.
So when you ask for an offer, give the full picture. A made-up example: “2023 C300 sedan, 38,000 km, every service at a Mercedes-Benz dealer, no open recalls, both keys”. If you paid for a pack, keep the original invoice handy.
What a buyer checks on a C-Class
Whoever buys your car will work through much the same list. Use it before anyone comes to look.
| Check | What they look for | What to have ready |
|---|---|---|
| Generation and variant | The badge and build date match | Original sales invoice |
| Servicing | Every service recorded on time | Printed Digital Service Report and receipts |
| Recalls | No open safety recalls | Your VIN search result and job cards |
| Dash | No warning lights on | Recent service notes |
| Wheels and tyres | Kerb marks, tyre wear and matching brands | Tyre receipts |
| Plug-in hybrid | The charging cable is there | The cable that came with the car |
| Finance | A security interest on the PPSR | Your lender’s payout figure |
| Keys | Both keys present | Both keys |
Mercedes-Benz records servicing in its Digital Service Booklet, a central database, rather than relying on a stamped paper logbook. Its workshop FAQ says a Digital Service Report is printed for the customer. Independent workshops that can service Mercedes-Benz cars professionally get access free of charge. If an independent workshop serviced your car, check each visit was entered, and keep its invoices either way.
If the car is still under factory warranty, get the end date from a Mercedes-Benz dealer before you call. A buyer will ask.
Recalls to clear before you sell
Run your VIN through the government’s vehicle recall search before you ask for offers. These are the C-Class recalls we know of that can touch a 2021-on car. The list isn’t complete, so always check your own VIN.
| Recall | Which cars | The problem |
|---|---|---|
| REC-006187 | C, E, GLC and CLS with the 48V system, 2021 to 2023 | Injectors may switch off when leaving coasting mode, causing a loss of drive |
| REC-005750 | C-Class, 2021 to 2023 | Battery ground bolts may be under-tightened, a fire risk |
| REC-005452 | 2022 C-Class | Overhead panel fault affecting the eCall emergency system |
| REC-006695 (August 2026) | 58,822 Mercedes-Benz vehicles built 2018 to 2026, including C200, C300 and AMG C-Class models | Door-lock microswitch can fail, so the auto park feature may not work |
Recall work is done free at a Mercedes-Benz dealer. For the door-lock recall, Mercedes-Benz says it will contact owners to book the repair once parts are available. Until then, it advises selecting Park and applying the parking brake every time you leave the car.
If a recall is still open when you sell, tell us on the call and keep any letter or job card. Our guide to checking open recalls before you sell explains how to read the search results.
When to sell: the facelift and the electric C-Class
CarExpert reported in August 2026 that an updated C-Class sedan, with mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, is due in Australia in the first half of 2027. Mercedes-Benz has also revealed a fully electric C-Class.
Nobody can say yet what either will do to used prices. Treat them as background rather than a reason to rush, and decide on your own timing.
Kilometres matter more than the calendar. We buy cars 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less, so if your C-Class is getting close to 100,000 km, selling before it crosses keeps it inside our buying range. If it has already gone past, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.
Finance, leases and paperwork
Plenty of C-Class sedans are still under finance or on a novated lease when they are sold. On a novated lease the finance company owns the car until the lease is paid out, so read our guide to selling a car on a novated lease mid-term first. When you sell to us, we deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay any equity into your account. That usually takes 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the offer, the difference has to be covered before settlement.
Ask your lender for a payout figure first, because it can differ from the balance in your banking app. Our page on selling a car under finance explains the steps.
The ATO says private cars are generally exempt from capital gains tax. If the car was used in a business, talk to your accountant about GST before you sell.
We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership. We’ll make sure your notice of disposal is done correctly; in most states it’s a quick online form. Usually no roadworthy or safety certificate is needed when you sell to us, but rules differ by state and we confirm what applies on the call.
Selling your C-Class to us
Sell Your Car Australia is run by Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd, a NSW licensed motor dealer (MD 077404). Your offer comes from a valuer who has priced cars since 1992 and supplies dealerships nationwide.
You get a genuine offer by phone, not an online estimate. If you accept, the deposit is often paid the same day. The inspection happens after that, at a time and place that suits you. The balance goes into your bank account, and the car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared. We arrange collection anywhere in Australia. The valuation is free, there’s no obligation and no fees come out of the offer.

Your money clears before your keys leave your hand
Private sales go wrong at the handover: fake bank transfers, cheques that bounce, cars driven off before the money lands. We turned the order around so that never happens to you.
“I was paid before Autohaus took possession of my car, which from my experience normally doesn’t happen.”
No strangers at your door
No test drives, no tyre-kickers, no one turning up and haggling on the driveway.
Deposit first
Accept our offer and we pay a deposit, often the same day, before anyone inspects the car.
Balance cleared before pickup
The rest is paid into your account. We collect only once you confirm it has cleared.

Questions about selling your C-Class
Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.
1800 73 55 73How do I know if my C-Class is a W205 or a W206?
Start with the date and the body. The W206 sedan went on sale in Australia in February 2022, so a sedan sold new in 2021 is a W205, and so is any C-Class coupe or cabriolet. A portrait touchscreen in the middle of the dash marks a W206, and a Mercedes-Benz dealer can confirm it from the VIN.
Do you buy AMG C-Class models?
Yes, as long as the car is 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. That includes the AMG C 43 and the C 63 S E Performance. Tell us the exact variant, any edition or option pack and any modifications, and keep the original parts if anything has been changed.
Should I get C-Class recall work done before I sell?
If the fix is available, yes. Recall work is free at a Mercedes-Benz dealer, and a finished job removes a question at inspection. Some fixes, like the August 2026 door-lock recall, are waiting on parts. In that case tell us on the call, because the recall stays with the car and the next owner can still have it done.
Does it matter if an independent workshop serviced my C-Class?
Not if the work is documented. Mercedes-Benz gives independent workshops that can service its cars professionally free access to its Digital Service Booklet. Check that each service was entered, and keep the invoices either way.
My C-Class is on a novated lease. Can I still sell it to you?
Usually, yes. On a novated lease the finance company owns the car until the lease is paid out, so the lease has to be settled before ownership can pass. Ask your provider for a written payout figure, then call us with it. Your contract decides what happens to any money left over or any gap.
What cars are you buying right now?
We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.
When do I get paid?
Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.
Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?
Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
