Paperwork in the Northern Territory

There is no online form in the NT. You and the buyer sign a notice of disposal with the engine number, VIN, rego number, sale date and the sale price or market value. You send it to MVR within 14 days by email, mail or in person. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork, help with the transfer and make sure your notice of disposal is done correctly.

A light vehicle 7 years old or older needs a roadworthy inspection on transfer, and so does one unregistered for 12 months or more.
