We buy cars all over Alice Springs

Alice Springs sits in the middle of the country, about 1,500 km by road from Darwin and about the same from Adelaide. The local pool of buyers is small, and the next big dealer is a very long drive away. You do not need to go anywhere. We buy cars in The Gap, Gillen, Araluen and Larapinta, in Braitling, Sadadeen and East Side, and out to Ilparpa, White Gums, Ross and Kilgariff.

We are a licensed motor dealer (MD 077404) buying cars Australia-wide, run by a valuer who has priced cars since 1992. You get a genuine offer by phone, not an online estimate, and no fees come out of the offer. Start with a free valuation or read how it works.

The cars we buy in Alice Springs

The heat, the red dust and the corrugations out to the West MacDonnell Ranges mean most people here drive something tough. We buy late-model Toyota HiLux, Ford Ranger and Isuzu D-MAX utes, along with any other ute or 4WD in good condition. In town, families and shift workers drive SUVs like the Toyota RAV4, and we buy those as well.

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs from 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. Older, or more kilometres? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in Alice Springs without the hassle

Lots of people come to Alice for a contract in health, government or defence, then move on. When it is time to leave, a private sale can drag. The few buyers in town haggle hard, and travellers passing through may want to pay in ways you cannot check. Selling before you leave also saves the long drive or the cost of shipping the car.

When you sell your car to us, it is simpler. After you accept, a deposit is often paid the same day, and we inspect the car at a time and place that suits you. The balance goes into your bank account, and the car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared. Still paying it off? We deal with your lender directly and pay you any equity. See selling a car under finance.

We also buy cars in Katherine, Mount Isa and Port Augusta.

Paperwork in the Northern Territory

There is no online form in the NT. You and the buyer sign a notice of disposal with the engine number, VIN, rego number, sale date and the sale price or market value. You send it to MVR within 14 days by email, mail or in person. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork, help with the transfer and make sure your notice of disposal is done correctly.

A light vehicle 7 years old or older needs a roadworthy inspection on transfer, and so does one unregistered for 12 months or more. A 2021 or newer car is under that age in 2026, so a roadworthy usually is not needed when you sell to us. We confirm what applies on the call. Read our guide to selling a car in the NT, or selling a car in Australia.

What we are buying right now

Cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs of any make, 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Finance owing is fine. Older or higher-km car? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in Northern Territory

The practical side, so nothing catches you out. Rules change from time to time, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR), NT Government
Transfer of ownership
In the NT there's no online form. You and the buyer sign a notice of disposal, which must include the engine number as well as the VIN, rego number, sale date and the sale price or market value, and you send it to MVR within 14 days by email, mail or in person. The buyer then has 14 days to apply for the transfer. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork, help with the transfer of ownership and make sure your notice of disposal is done correctly.
Roadworthy certificate
Usually not for the cars we buy. In the NT, a light vehicle 7 years old or older needs a roadworthy inspection when ownership is transferred, and so does a vehicle that has been unregistered for 12 months or more. A 2021 or newer car is under that age in 2026, so a roadworthy or safety certificate usually is not needed when you sell to us. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.
Good to know
The buyer pays the transfer fee and stamp duty, so you pay neither when you sell to us. NT number plates belong to MVR, and what you hold is the right to display them: it can go with the car, move to another vehicle you own, or be swapped. Mention any personalised plates on the call.

What to have ready

  • Photo ID
  • Registration papers
  • Service logbook and receipts for any recent work
  • Loan details, if the car is under finance
  • Bank account details for your payment

We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership, so you do not have to chase forms.

Selling your car in Alice Springs: your questions

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

Do you buy cars in The Gap, Larapinta and Ilparpa?

Yes. We buy cars all over Alice Springs, from The Gap, Gillen and Araluen to Larapinta, Braitling, Sadadeen and East Side, and out to Ilparpa, White Gums and Kilgariff. If your car is further out, at Hermannsburg, Ti Tree or Yulara, send it through anyway. After you accept our offer, the inspection happens at a time and place that suits you.

How does collection work from Alice Springs?

Distance does not change how we buy. You never have to drive the car up or down the Stuart Highway. We make a genuine offer by phone, and once you accept, we pay a deposit, often the same day. We inspect the car at a time and place that suits you, the balance goes into your bank account, and we arrange collection only after you confirm the funds have cleared.

Do I need a roadworthy to sell my car in the NT?

Usually not for the cars we buy. In the NT, a light vehicle 7 years old or older needs a roadworthy inspection when ownership is transferred, and so does a vehicle that has been unregistered for 12 months or more. A 2021 or newer car is under that age in 2026, so a roadworthy or safety certificate usually is not needed when you sell to us. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.

My 4WD is set up for the outback. Should I tell you what is fitted?

Yes, please. Bull bars, snorkels, long-range tanks, roof racks, drawers and dual batteries are common on Centre cars, so list what is fitted and what has come off. We buy 4WDs from 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. Dirt road kilometres add up fast, so if yours is past that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

What cars are you buying right now?

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

When do I get paid?

Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.

Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?

Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.

We can buy your car in Alice Springs

Free and no obligation. If your car is 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less, we want to hear about it.
