We buy cars all over Palmerston

Palmerston is a city of young families, newer homes and long commutes into Darwin, about 20 km up the Stuart Highway. Plenty of households run two cars, and plenty move on when a job or posting ends. Whatever the reason, we can buy your car without you leaving the driveway. We buy cars in Driver, Gray, Moulden, Woodroffe and Gunn, in the newer estates at Zuccoli, Johnston and Bellamack, and out in the rural area at Howard Springs, Coolalinga and Humpty Doo.

We are a licensed motor dealer (MD 077404) buying cars Australia-wide, run by a valuer who has priced cars since 1992. You get a genuine offer by phone, not an online estimate. Start with a free valuation or see how it works.

The cars we buy in Palmerston

School runs and sport in the heat mean big, air-conditioned family cars. We buy people movers like the Kia Carnival and SUVs like the Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai Tucson. Weekends here are for the boat ramp and the barra, so a dual-cab with a towbar is common too. We buy late-model Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger utes and other 4WDs. Tell us about the canopy, the bar work and anything else fitted.

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs from 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. Older, or more kilometres? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in Palmerston without the hassle

A private sale means listings, messages and test drives squeezed around work and the weather. Scamwatch has warned that car-ad scammers often pose as defence personnel about to deploy. With Robertson Barracks next door, that story can sound normal here. When you sell your car to us, you skip the strangers and the payment stories.

After you accept, a deposit is often paid the same day. We inspect the car at a time and place that suits you, and the balance goes into your bank account. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared. Still paying it off? We deal with your lender directly and pay you any equity. See selling a car under finance.

We also buy cars in Darwin and Katherine.

Paperwork in the Northern Territory

There is no online form in the NT. You and the buyer sign a notice of disposal with the engine number, VIN, rego number, sale date and the sale price or market value. You send it to MVR within 14 days by email, mail or in person. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork, help with the transfer and make sure your notice of disposal is done correctly.

A light vehicle 7 years old or older needs a roadworthy inspection on transfer, and so does one unregistered for 12 months or more. A 2021 or newer car is under that age in 2026, so a roadworthy usually is not needed when you sell to us. We confirm what applies on the call. Read our guide to selling a car in the NT, or selling a car in Australia.

What we are buying right now

Cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs of any make, 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Finance owing is fine. Older or higher-km car? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in Northern Territory

The practical side, so nothing catches you out. Rules change from time to time, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Registration authority
Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR), NT Government
Transfer of ownership
In the NT there's no online form. You and the buyer sign a notice of disposal, which must include the engine number as well as the VIN, rego number, sale date and the sale price or market value, and you send it to MVR within 14 days by email, mail or in person. The buyer then has 14 days to apply for the transfer. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork, help with the transfer of ownership and make sure your notice of disposal is done correctly.
Roadworthy certificate
Usually not for the cars we buy. In the NT, a light vehicle 7 years old or older needs a roadworthy inspection when ownership is transferred, and so does a vehicle that has been unregistered for 12 months or more. A 2021 or newer car is under that age in 2026, so a roadworthy or safety certificate usually is not needed when you sell to us. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.
Good to know
The buyer pays the transfer fee and stamp duty, so you pay neither when you sell to us. NT number plates belong to MVR, and what you hold is the right to display them: it can go with the car, move to another vehicle you own, or be swapped. Mention any personalised plates on the call.

What to have ready

  • Photo ID
  • Registration papers
  • Service logbook and receipts for any recent work
  • Loan details, if the car is under finance
  • Bank account details for your payment

We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership, so you do not have to chase forms.

Selling your car in Palmerston: your questions

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

Do you buy cars in Zuccoli, Rosebery and Howard Springs?

Yes. We buy cars all over Palmerston, from Driver, Gray and Moulden to Rosebery, Bakewell, Durack and Farrar, and the newer estates at Zuccoli, Johnston and Bellamack. We also buy cars in the rural area at Howard Springs, Coolalinga, Virginia and Humpty Doo. Tell us where the car is, and after you accept our offer the inspection happens at a time and place that suits you.

How does collection work from Palmerston?

You do not have to drive the car anywhere or book a carrier. We make a genuine offer by phone. After you accept, we pay a deposit, often the same day, and inspect the car at a time and place that suits you. The balance goes into your bank account, and we arrange collection only after you confirm the funds have cleared.

How does the notice of disposal work in the NT?

There is no online form in the NT. You and the buyer sign a notice of disposal, which must include the engine number as well as the VIN, rego number, sale date and the sale price or market value. You send it to MVR within 14 days by email, mail or in person, and the buyer then has 14 days to apply for the transfer. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork, help with the transfer of ownership and make sure your notice of disposal is done correctly.

I have a posting coming up. Can I sell my car before I leave Palmerston?

Yes. Selling before you go saves you driving the car down the Stuart Highway or paying to ship it. Call us with your moving date and we plan the inspection and collection around it. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so start the sale with some room before the removalists arrive.

What cars are you buying right now?

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

When do I get paid?

Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.

Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?

Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
