Sell your car in Murray Bridge

Step 1 of 3: your car

We buy cars all over Murray Bridge

Thinking of selling your car in Murray Bridge? We can buy it. We buy cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs in Murray Bridge itself, in Murray Bridge East, North and South, and out to Mobilong, Northern Heights, Gifford Hill and White Sands. We also buy along the river and across the district, from Mannum and Mypolonga to Tailem Bend, Wellington, Callington and Monarto.

We are a licensed motor dealer (MD 077404) buying cars Australia-wide, and the business is run by a valuer who has priced cars since 1992. You get a genuine offer by phone, not an online estimate. Accept it and a deposit is often paid the same day. Get started with a free valuation, or read how it works.

The cars we buy in the Murraylands

The Murraylands are farming, dairy and meat processing country, and the river brings boats, caravans and plenty of towing. Utes and 4WDs do a lot of the work here, so we buy them all, including the Toyota HiLux, Ford Ranger and Mazda BT-50. Read what we look for in utes and 4WDs.

Plenty of people in Murray Bridge commute up the South Eastern Freeway to Adelaide or the Hills, and families need room for the school run. We buy small and mid-size SUVs like the Mazda CX-5, along with sedans and hatches of any make. We are buying 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. Older or higher kilometres? Send it through anyway, and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in Murray Bridge without the hassle

A private sale in Murray Bridge means a smaller local market, and buyers from Adelaide may want a look and a test drive before they commit. You write the ad, sort scam messages from genuine enquiries and hand your keys to strangers. A trade-in means a trip to a city dealer, who is also pricing the car you buy next. Read why some people sell instead of trading in.

When you sell your car to us, there is none of that. The inspection happens after you accept, at a time and place that suits you. The balance is paid into your bank account, and we arrange collection only after you confirm the funds have cleared. Still paying it off? We deal with your lender directly and pay you any equity. Paperwork in South Australia

In South Australia, the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service SA within 14 days, and the buyer has 14 days to transfer the registration. Because we are a NSW-licensed dealer, your notice goes in on Service SA’s paper form rather than online through mySAGOV. We prepare the sale paperwork, help with the transfer and make sure your notice is filled in correctly. Our guide to selling a car in South Australia has the detail, and selling a car in Australia covers the rest.

Heading up into the Hills or down to the coast? We also buy cars in Mount Barker and Victor Harbor. Call 1800 73 55 73 and sell your car to us.

What we are buying right now

Cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs of any make, 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Finance owing is fine. Older or higher-km car? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in South Australia

The practical side, so nothing catches you out. Rules change from time to time, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Registration authority
Service SA, for the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, with stamp duty set by RevenueSA
Transfer of ownership
In South Australia, the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service SA within 14 days of the sale, and the buyer has 14 days to transfer the registration. The notice does not move the rego: with an SA buyer the car stays in your name until they transfer it, and with an interstate buyer Service SA records you as the last SA owner. Because we are a NSW-licensed dealer, your notice goes in on Service SA's paper form, not online through mySAGOV. We prepare the sale paperwork, help with the transfer of ownership and make sure your notice of disposal is filled in correctly.
Roadworthy certificate
Usually not needed. South Australia does not ask for a roadworthy certificate to transfer a registered car, so you usually do not need one when you sell to us. Service SA's change-of-ownership inspection is for some heavy vehicles and trailers, not an ordinary registered car. Rules differ by state, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.
Good to know
The notice of disposal is free, and the transfer fee and stamp duty are the buyer's costs, so you pay none of them when you sell to us. Registration, including the CTP insurance that comes with it, stays with the car, and lodging your notice stops any rego direct debit. Keeping special plates? Swap to standard plates at a Service SA customer service centre before the sale, not after.

What to have ready

  • Photo ID
  • Registration papers
  • Service logbook and receipts for any recent work
  • Loan details, if the car is under finance
  • Bank account details for your payment

We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership, so you do not have to chase forms.

Selling your car in Murray Bridge: your questions

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

Do you buy cars in Mannum, Tailem Bend and Mypolonga?

Yes. We buy cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs in Murray Bridge and the towns around it, including Mannum, Tailem Bend, Mypolonga, Wellington and Callington, and out to Karoonda and Meningie. We are a licensed dealer buying cars Australia-wide, so wherever you are in the Murraylands, we can buy your car.

How does collection work from Murray Bridge?

After you accept our offer, the inspection happens at a time and place that suits you, whether that is home in Murray Bridge East or a property out past Mypolonga. The balance is paid into your bank account, and we arrange collection only after you confirm the funds have cleared. There is no drive down the freeway to a city car yard.

How do I lodge my notice of disposal when I sell to you?

On Service SA's paper form. In South Australia the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service SA within 14 days of the sale, and the buyer has 14 days to transfer the registration. Because we are a NSW-licensed dealer, your notice goes in on paper, not online through mySAGOV. We prepare the sale paperwork, help with the transfer of ownership and make sure your notice of disposal is filled in correctly.

I commute to Adelaide for work. Can the inspection happen there?

Yes. The inspection happens after you accept our offer, at a time and place that suits you. That can be at home in Murray Bridge or at your workplace in Adelaide or the Hills, whichever is easier. We arrange collection only after you confirm the funds have cleared.

What cars are you buying right now?

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

When do I get paid?

Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.

Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?

Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
