Sell your car in Victor Harbor

Step 1 of 3: your car

Your car

Free, no obligation Takes about a minute Paid before pickup

We buy cars all over Victor Harbor

If you want to sell your car in Victor Harbor, we can buy it. We buy cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs in Victor Harbor, Encounter Bay, McCracken and Hayborough, and in the valleys behind town at Hindmarsh Valley, Inman Valley and Waitpinga. We also buy along the coast at Port Elliot, Middleton and Goolwa, and across the Fleurieu Peninsula to Mount Compass, Yankalilla and Normanville.

We are a licensed motor dealer (MD 077404) buying cars Australia-wide, run by a valuer who has priced cars since 1992. You get a genuine offer by phone, not an online estimate. Accept it, and a deposit is often paid the same day. Start with a free valuation or read how it works.

The cars we buy in Victor Harbor

The south coast mixes retirees, families, tradies and holiday-home owners, so the cars are a mix too. We buy family SUVs like the Toyota RAV4 and Mazda CX-5, and everyday cars like the Toyota Corolla. We buy the utes and 4WDs that tow boats to the Goolwa ramps and caravans up the coast, so see what we look for in utes and 4WDs. Downsizing to one car, or selling the convertible you kept for weekend drives? We buy prestige and European cars as well.

We are buying 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. Older or higher kilometres? Send it through anyway, and we will tell you straight away if we can help. Coastal cars live with salt air, so tell us about the condition on the call.

Selling a car in Victor Harbor without the hassle

Victor Harbor is about 80 km from Adelaide. Many private buyers will want you to bring the car to the city, or will come down for a look and then haggle. Selling privately also means writing the ad, sorting scam messages from real enquiries and letting strangers test drive your car. Got a second car sitting at the holiday house? See how to sell a car you don’t use.

When you sell your car to us, the inspection happens after you accept, at a time and place that suits you. The balance is paid into your bank account, and we arrange collection only after you confirm the funds have cleared. Car under finance? We deal with your lender directly and pay you any equity. No fees come out of the offer.

Paperwork in South Australia

In South Australia, the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service SA within 14 days of the sale. Because we are a NSW-licensed dealer, your notice goes in on Service SA’s paper form, not online through mySAGOV. We prepare the sale paperwork, help with the transfer and make sure your notice of disposal is filled in correctly. Our guide to selling a car in South Australia has the detail, and selling a car in Australia covers the rest.

Up through the Hills or along the river? We also buy cars in Mount Barker and Murray Bridge. Call 1800 73 55 73 and sell your car to us.

What we are buying right now

Cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs of any make, 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Finance owing is fine. Older or higher-km car? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in South Australia

The practical side, so nothing catches you out. Rules change from time to time, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Registration authority
Service SA, for the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, with stamp duty set by RevenueSA
Transfer of ownership
In South Australia, the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service SA within 14 days of the sale, and the buyer has 14 days to transfer the registration. The notice does not move the rego: with an SA buyer the car stays in your name until they transfer it, and with an interstate buyer Service SA records you as the last SA owner. Because we are a NSW-licensed dealer, your notice goes in on Service SA's paper form, not online through mySAGOV. We prepare the sale paperwork, help with the transfer of ownership and make sure your notice of disposal is filled in correctly.
Roadworthy certificate
Usually not needed. South Australia does not ask for a roadworthy certificate to transfer a registered car, so you usually do not need one when you sell to us. Service SA's change-of-ownership inspection is for some heavy vehicles and trailers, not an ordinary registered car. Rules differ by state, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.
Good to know
The notice of disposal is free, and the transfer fee and stamp duty are the buyer's costs, so you pay none of them when you sell to us. Registration, including the CTP insurance that comes with it, stays with the car, and lodging your notice stops any rego direct debit. Keeping special plates? Swap to standard plates at a Service SA customer service centre before the sale, not after.

What to have ready

  • Photo ID
  • Registration papers
  • Service logbook and receipts for any recent work
  • Loan details, if the car is under finance
  • Bank account details for your payment

We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership, so you do not have to chase forms.

How selling your car in Victor Harbor works

Four steps. Your part takes about a minute, and you are paid before the car leaves your driveway.

  1. Tell us about your car

Make, model, year and kilometres. A minute on the form, or a quick call.

  2. Get a genuine offer

We call you, check a few details and make a cash offer. Accept it or walk away.

  3. Get paid

A deposit once you accept. The balance lands in your account after an inspection.

  4. We collect the car

Only after your funds have cleared, from your home or work, anywhere in Australia.

Selling your car in Victor Harbor: your questions

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

1800 73 55 73
Do you buy cars in Encounter Bay, Port Elliot and Goolwa?

Yes. We buy cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs in Victor Harbor and the towns around it, including Encounter Bay, McCracken, Hayborough, Port Elliot, Middleton and Goolwa, and inland to Mount Compass and Hindmarsh Valley. We are a licensed dealer buying cars Australia-wide, so wherever you are on the Fleurieu, we can buy your car.

How does collection work from Victor Harbor?

After you accept our offer, the inspection happens at a time and place that suits you, whether that is home in Encounter Bay or a property in the Inman Valley. The balance is paid into your bank account, and we arrange collection only after you confirm the funds have cleared. There is no drive up to an Adelaide car yard.

Can I lodge my notice of disposal online through mySAGOV?

Not when you sell to us. In South Australia the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service SA within 14 days of the sale. Because we are a NSW-licensed dealer, your notice goes in on Service SA's paper form, not online through mySAGOV. We prepare the sale paperwork, help with the transfer of ownership and make sure your notice of disposal is filled in correctly.

Our second car sits at the holiday house in Encounter Bay. Can you buy it from there?

Yes. The inspection happens at a time and place that suits you, so it can be at the holiday house on a weekend you are down. Tell us where the car is on the call. Once you accept, the balance is paid into your bank account, and we arrange collection only after you confirm the funds have cleared.

What cars are you buying right now?

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

When do I get paid?

Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.

Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?

Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.

We can buy your car in Victor Harbor

Free and no obligation. If your car is 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less, we want to hear about it.
