Sell your car in The Hills District

Step 1 of 3: your car

Your car

Free, no obligation Takes about a minute Paid before pickup

We buy cars all over the Hills District

Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, Bella Vista, Kellyville, Rouse Hill, Box Hill, Dural or Kenthurst: wherever you are in the Hills, we can buy your car. We are a licensed NSW motor dealer, MD 077404 (Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd), and we buy cars Australia-wide. The business is run by a valuer who has priced cars since 1992.

The cars we buy in the Hills

The Hills runs on family SUVs and people movers. New estates in Box Hill and North Kellyville mean long drives to school, sport and the Metro station, and that is what a Kia Carnival, Hyundai Tucson or Mazda CX-5 is bought for. We buy all of them, and every other kind of SUV. Out on the acreage around Kenthurst, Galston and Glenorie, a ute is just as common, and we buy those too. Prestige models such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC and GLE are welcome as well.

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs from 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. Older, or more kilometres on the clock? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in the Hills without the hassle

A private sale means listing photos, chasing messages and strangers test-driving your car around the cul-de-sac. You also have to be sure a payment has really landed before you hand over the keys. Trading in is quicker, but the trade-in becomes one number inside the deal on your next car. If that sounds familiar, read about selling your car instead of trading it in.

When you sell your car to us, you get a genuine offer by phone, not an online estimate. Accept it and we pay a deposit, often the same day. The inspection happens at a time and place that suits you, at home in Glenhaven or at work in Norwest. The balance is paid into your bank account, and the car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared. No fees come out of the offer. Read how it works or ask for a free valuation.

Paperwork in New South Wales

In NSW the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service NSW within 14 days of the sale, and Service NSW says to do it immediately after you sell. You can lodge it online with a MyServiceNSW Account or on the paper form. When you sell to us, you enter our motor dealer licence number, MD 077404, and our business name, Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd, in place of a buyer’s licence. We prepare the sale paperwork and make sure your notice is done correctly, so you are not held responsible for parking or driving fines after the sale.

The full detail is in our guide to selling a car in NSW, and selling a car in Australia covers the rest. We also buy cars down the road in Parramatta and Blacktown.

What we are buying right now

Cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs of any make, 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Finance owing is fine. Older or higher-km car? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in New South Wales

The practical side, so nothing catches you out. Rules change from time to time, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Roadworthy certificate
Usually nothing to book. Service NSW says you will not need a pink slip (safety inspection report) to transfer a current NSW registration. Pink slips are a yearly check at rego renewal for most light vehicles more than 5 years old, counted from the compliance plate date. If the rego expired more than 3 months ago, the car needs a blue slip (AUVIS inspection) before it can be registered again. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.
Good to know
In NSW the buyer pays the transfer fee and any stamp duty, so neither comes out of your offer when you sell to us. Your CTP green slip moves to the new owner automatically with the registration. On the day the car goes, take out your e-tag and delete the plate from your toll account. Want to keep personalised plates? Swap them for general plates before the sale.

What to have ready

  • Photo ID
  • Registration papers
  • Service logbook and receipts for any recent work
  • Loan details, if the car is under finance
  • Bank account details for your payment

We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership, so you do not have to chase forms.

Selling your car in The Hills District: your questions

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

Do you buy cars in Castle Hill, Kellyville, Rouse Hill and Dural?

Yes. We buy cars right across the Hills, from Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills and Bella Vista to Kellyville, Rouse Hill and Box Hill, and out to Dural, Kenthurst and Glenorie. After you accept our offer, the inspection happens at a time and place that suits you, at home or at work in Norwest.

How does collection work from the Hills District?

Once you accept our offer, we pay a deposit, often the same day, and inspect the car at a time and place that suits you. The balance is paid into your bank account. We arrange collection only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so the car stays in your garage until you have been paid.

Do I need a pink slip or blue slip to sell my car?

Usually there is nothing to book. Service NSW says you will not need a pink slip (safety inspection report) to transfer a current NSW registration. Pink slips are a yearly check at rego renewal for most light vehicles more than 5 years old, counted from the compliance plate date. A blue slip (AUVIS inspection) is only needed if the rego expired more than 3 months ago, before the car can be registered again. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.

We are upgrading the family car. Can you buy ours while there is still finance on it?

Yes. Tell us who the lender is on the call. When you sell a [car under finance](/sell-my-car-under-finance/) to us, we deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan and pay you any equity. You do not need to clear the loan yourself before you sell.

What cars are you buying right now?

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

When do I get paid?

Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.

Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?

Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
