Sell your car in Albury

Step 1 of 3: your car

We buy cars all over Albury

We buy cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs right across Albury. That means Lavington, Glenroy and Thurgoona, East Albury, Springdale Heights and Hamilton Valley. It also means the towns that look to Albury, like Jindera, Howlong, Holbrook, Culcairn and Corowa. Wherever the car is parked, we can buy your car.

We are a licensed NSW motor dealer, MD 077404 (Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd), and we buy cars Australia-wide. The business is run by a valuer who has priced cars since 1992. You get a genuine offer by phone, not an online estimate. Across the river? We also buy cars in Wodonga, up the Hume in Wagga Wagga and down the road in Wangaratta.

The cars we buy in Albury

Albury drives a bit of everything. Tradies run utes between jobs in Thurgoona and Lavington. Families in the newer estates need a mid-size SUV for school, sport and weekends at Lake Hume. Farmers out past Jindera and Walla Walla want a dual cab that can tow. Plenty of people cross the border for work every day, so the kilometres add up.

We buy late-model utes and SUVs of every make, including the Toyota HiLux, Ford Ranger, Toyota RAV4 and Mazda CX-5. We are buying cars 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. Older, or more kilometres than that? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in Albury without the hassle

A private sale in Albury means a listing, a stream of messages and strangers turning up for test drives. You have to spot fake payment receipts too. A trade-in is quicker, but the figure is tied to the next car the dealer sells you.

When you sell your car to us, it works differently. You accept the offer on the call, and a deposit is often paid the same day. The inspection happens after that, at a time and place that suits you. The balance goes into your bank account, and we collect the car only after you confirm the funds have cleared. Still paying it off? We deal with your lender directly and pay you any equity, so selling a car under finance is simple. See how it works, or start with a free valuation.

Paperwork in New South Wales

In NSW the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service NSW within 14 days of the sale. Service NSW says to do it immediately after you sell. You can lodge it online with a MyServiceNSW Account or on the paper form. When you sell to us, you enter our licence number, MD 077404, and business name, Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd, in place of a buyer’s licence. We prepare the sale paperwork and make sure your notice is done correctly, so you are not held responsible for fines after the sale.

There is usually nothing to book. Service NSW says you will not need a pink slip to transfer a current NSW registration. Read our guide to selling a car in NSW, or the wider guide to selling a car in Australia. Then call 1800 73 55 73 and sell your car to us.

What we are buying right now

Cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs of any make, 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Finance owing is fine. Older or higher-km car? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in New South Wales

The practical side, so nothing catches you out. Rules change from time to time, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Transfer of ownership
In NSW the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service NSW within 14 days of the sale, and Service NSW says to do it immediately after you sell. You can lodge it online with a MyServiceNSW Account or on the paper form. When you sell to us, you enter our motor dealer licence number (MD 077404) and business name, Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd, in place of a buyer's licence. We prepare the sale paperwork and make sure your notice of disposal is done correctly, so you are not held responsible for parking or driving fines after the sale.
Roadworthy certificate
Usually nothing to book. Service NSW says you will not need a pink slip (safety inspection report) to transfer a current NSW registration. Pink slips are a yearly check at rego renewal for most light vehicles more than 5 years old, counted from the compliance plate date. If the rego expired more than 3 months ago, the car needs a blue slip (AUVIS inspection) before it can be registered again. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.
Good to know
In NSW the buyer pays the transfer fee and any stamp duty, so neither comes out of your offer when you sell to us. Your CTP green slip moves to the new owner automatically with the registration. On the day the car goes, take out your e-tag and delete the plate from your toll account. Want to keep personalised plates? Swap them for general plates before the sale.

What to have ready

  • Photo ID
  • Registration papers
  • Service logbook and receipts for any recent work
  • Loan details, if the car is under finance
  • Bank account details for your payment

We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership, so you do not have to chase forms.

Selling your car in Albury: your questions

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

1800 73 55 73
Do you buy cars in Lavington, Thurgoona and Jindera?

Yes. We buy cars right across Albury, including Lavington, Glenroy, Thurgoona, East Albury and Springdale Heights, and out to Jindera, Howlong, Holbrook, Culcairn and Corowa. We are a licensed NSW motor dealer buying cars Australia-wide, so wherever the car is parked, we can buy your car.

How does collection work from Albury?

You accept our offer on the call, and a deposit is often paid the same day. The inspection happens after that, at a time and place that suits you, whether that is your home in Lavington or your work in town. The balance is paid into your bank account, and we arrange collection only after you confirm the funds have cleared.

What do I lodge with Service NSW when I sell my car to you?

In NSW the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service NSW within 14 days of the sale, and Service NSW says to do it immediately after you sell. You can lodge it online with a MyServiceNSW Account or on the paper form. You enter our motor dealer licence number, MD 077404, and our business name, Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd, in place of a buyer's licence. We prepare the sale paperwork and make sure your notice of disposal is done correctly.

I live across the river in Wodonga. Can you still buy my car?

Yes. We buy cars on both sides of the Murray, and right across Australia. Tell us on the call where you live and where the car is registered, and we will confirm the paperwork that applies to your car. The offer, the inspection and the payment work the same way, and we collect the car only after your funds have cleared.

What cars are you buying right now?

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

When do I get paid?

Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.

Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?

Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.

Free and no obligation. If your car is 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less, we want to hear about it.
