Sell your car in Queanbeyan

Step 1 of 3: your car

Your car

Free, no obligation Takes about a minute Paid before pickup

We buy cars all over Queanbeyan

Queanbeyan sits right on the ACT border, and plenty of people here cross it every working day. If you want to sell your car, we can buy it wherever it is: a driveway in Karabar, a new street in Googong, a bush block at Wamboin or Carwoola, or a farm gate out past Bungendore. We are a licensed NSW motor dealer (MD 077404, Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd) buying cars right across Australia.

We buy cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs from 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. Older or higher kilometres? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help. Start with a free valuation. There is no obligation and no fees taken out of the offer.

The cars we buy in Queanbeyan

Families in Jerrabomberra and Googong tend to run mid-size SUVs for the school run, the commute into Canberra and winter trips down the Monaro Highway to the snow. We see plenty of the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5 and Hyundai Tucson, and we buy any SUV.

Tradies working out of the Queanbeyan industrial area and Fyshwick need utes. So do people on the rural blocks at Sutton, Bywong and Royalla, where gravel roads and kangaroos at dusk are part of the drive home. We buy every kind of ute, including the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux.

Still paying the car off? We deal with your lender directly and pay you any equity. Read how selling a car under finance works.

Selling a car in Queanbeyan without the hassle

A private sale here means listing online, answering messages from Canberra and the coast, and meeting strangers for test drives. Scam messages and fake payment screenshots are common. Trading in at a Canberra dealer is easier, but you are negotiating with the business selling you the next car. Here is why people sell instead of trading in.

Selling your car to us is simpler. You get a genuine offer by phone from a valuer who has priced cars since 1992, not an online estimate. Accept it and we pay a deposit, often the same day. The inspection happens at a time and place that suits you. The balance goes into your bank account, and we collect the car only after you confirm the funds have cleared. That is how it works.

Paperwork in New South Wales

A Queanbeyan car is registered in NSW, so the NSW rules apply even if you work over the border. You lodge a free notice of disposal with Service NSW within 14 days of the sale, and Service NSW says to do it immediately after you sell. Selling to us, you enter our licence number, MD 077404, and business name, Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd, in place of a buyer’s licence. We prepare the sale paperwork and make sure your notice is done correctly. Our guides to selling a car in NSW and selling a car in Australia cover the detail.

We also buy cars in Canberra, Goulburn and Batemans Bay. Call 1800 73 55 73 or fill in the form, and we can buy your car in Queanbeyan.

What we are buying right now

Cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs of any make, 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Finance owing is fine. Older or higher-km car? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in New South Wales

The practical side, so nothing catches you out. Rules change from time to time, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Registration authority
Transport for NSW, through Service NSW
Transfer of ownership
In NSW the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service NSW within 14 days of the sale, and Service NSW says to do it immediately after you sell. You can lodge it online with a MyServiceNSW Account or on the paper form. When you sell to us, you enter our motor dealer licence number (MD 077404) and business name, Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd, in place of a buyer's licence. We prepare the sale paperwork and make sure your notice of disposal is done correctly, so you are not held responsible for parking or driving fines after the sale.
Roadworthy certificate
Usually nothing to book. Service NSW says you will not need a pink slip (safety inspection report) to transfer a current NSW registration. Pink slips are a yearly check at rego renewal for most light vehicles more than 5 years old, counted from the compliance plate date. If the rego expired more than 3 months ago, the car needs a blue slip (AUVIS inspection) before it can be registered again. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.
Good to know
In NSW the buyer pays the transfer fee and any stamp duty, so neither comes out of your offer when you sell to us. Your CTP green slip moves to the new owner automatically with the registration. On the day the car goes, take out your e-tag and delete the plate from your toll account. Want to keep personalised plates? Swap them for general plates before the sale.

What to have ready

  • Photo ID
  • Registration papers
  • Service logbook and receipts for any recent work
  • Loan details, if the car is under finance
  • Bank account details for your payment

We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership, so you do not have to chase forms.

Selling your car in Queanbeyan: your questions

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

1800 73 55 73
Do you buy cars in Jerrabomberra, Googong and Karabar?

Yes. We buy cars all over Queanbeyan, including Jerrabomberra, Googong, Karabar, Crestwood and Queanbeyan East, and out to Bungendore, Wamboin, Captains Flat and Braidwood. Call 1800 73 55 73 or fill in the quote form, and we can buy your car wherever it is parked.

How does collection work from Queanbeyan?

After you accept our offer by phone, we inspect the car at a time and place that suits you. The balance is paid into your bank account, and we arrange collection only after you confirm the funds have cleared. You never hand over the keys before you are paid.

Do I need a pink slip to sell my car in Queanbeyan?

Usually there is nothing to book.

I live in Queanbeyan but work in Canberra. Can the inspection happen at work?

Yes. The inspection happens after you accept our offer, at a time and place that suits you, so a work car park in Civic, Fyshwick or Tuggeranong is fine. A car registered at a Queanbeyan address is a NSW car, so the NSW paperwork applies. We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer.

What cars are you buying right now?

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

When do I get paid?

Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.

Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?

Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.

We can buy your car in Queanbeyan
