We buy cars all over Port Macquarie

We buy cars across Port Macquarie and the Hastings. That covers Lighthouse Beach, Lake Innes, Thrumster and Sancrox, and down through Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills, Laurieton and North Haven. It covers inland too, at Wauchope, Beechwood and Telegraph Point. Up the highway in Kempsey or South West Rocks? We can buy your car there as well.

We are a licensed NSW motor dealer, MD 077404 (Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd), buying cars Australia-wide. The business is run by a valuer who has priced cars since 1992. You get a genuine offer by phone, not an online estimate. We also buy cars in Taree, Forster and Coffs Harbour.

The cars we buy in Port Macquarie

Port Macquarie is a mix of retirees, young families and tradies, and the driveways show it. Small SUVs and sedans suit people who mostly drive around town. Families need room for beach gear, school bags and sport. Tradies working the new estates around Thrumster and Lake Cathie run utes. Plenty of locals also head down the Pacific Highway to Newcastle or Sydney to see family.

We buy late-model SUVs, utes, sedans and people movers of every make. That includes the Toyota RAV4, Toyota Corolla, Mazda CX-5 and Kia Carnival. We are buying cars 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. Older, or more kilometres? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Down to one car after retiring, or a second car sitting in the garage? Read about selling a car you don’t use.

Selling a car in Port Macquarie without the hassle

A private sale here means photos, a listing, and messages at all hours. Strangers want test drives, some offers come in well under asking, and fake payment receipts are a real risk. A trade-in is quicker, but the figure is tied to the next car you buy from that dealer.

When you sell your car to us, you accept the offer on the call, and a deposit is often paid the same day. The inspection happens after you accept, at a time and place that suits you. The balance goes into your bank account, and we collect the car only after you confirm the funds have cleared. Still paying it off? We deal with your lender directly and pay you any equity, so selling a car under finance works too. Read how it works or ask for a free valuation, with no fees taken out of the offer.

Paperwork in New South Wales

In NSW the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service NSW within 14 days of the sale, and Service NSW says to do it immediately. When you sell to us, you enter our licence number, MD 077404, and business name, Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd. We prepare the sale paperwork and make sure your notice is done correctly. A pink slip is usually not needed to transfer a current NSW registration. Our guides to selling a car in NSW and selling a car in Australia cover the rest. Call 1800 73 55 73 and sell your car to us.

What we are buying right now

Cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs of any make, 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Finance owing is fine. Older or higher-km car? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in New South Wales

The practical side, so nothing catches you out. Rules change from time to time, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Registration authority
Transport for NSW, through Service NSW
Transfer of ownership
In NSW the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service NSW within 14 days of the sale, and Service NSW says to do it immediately after you sell. You can lodge it online with a MyServiceNSW Account or on the paper form. When you sell to us, you enter our motor dealer licence number (MD 077404) and business name, Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd, in place of a buyer's licence. We prepare the sale paperwork and make sure your notice of disposal is done correctly, so you are not held responsible for parking or driving fines after the sale.
Roadworthy certificate
Usually nothing to book. Service NSW says you will not need a pink slip (safety inspection report) to transfer a current NSW registration. Pink slips are a yearly check at rego renewal for most light vehicles more than 5 years old, counted from the compliance plate date. If the rego expired more than 3 months ago, the car needs a blue slip (AUVIS inspection) before it can be registered again. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.
Good to know
In NSW the buyer pays the transfer fee and any stamp duty, so neither comes out of your offer when you sell to us. Your CTP green slip moves to the new owner automatically with the registration. On the day the car goes, take out your e-tag and delete the plate from your toll account. Want to keep personalised plates? Swap them for general plates before the sale.

What to have ready

  • Photo ID
  • Registration papers
  • Service logbook and receipts for any recent work
  • Loan details, if the car is under finance
  • Bank account details for your payment

We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership, so you do not have to chase forms.

Selling your car in Port Macquarie: your questions

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

Do you buy cars in Lake Cathie, Laurieton and Wauchope?

Yes. We buy cars across Port Macquarie and the Hastings, including Lighthouse Beach, Thrumster, Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills, Laurieton, North Haven and Wauchope. We also buy in Kempsey, South West Rocks and Crescent Head. We are a licensed NSW motor dealer buying cars Australia-wide, so we can buy your car wherever it is.

How does collection work from Port Macquarie?

After you accept our offer on the call, the inspection happens at a time and place that suits you, at home in Lake Cathie or at work in town. The balance is paid into your bank account. Once you confirm the funds have cleared, we arrange collection. You never hand over the keys before you are paid.

What goes on the notice of disposal when I sell to you?

In NSW the seller lodges a free notice of disposal with Service NSW within 14 days of the sale, and Service NSW says to do it immediately after you sell. Where a buyer's licence would go, you enter our motor dealer licence number, MD 077404, and our business name, Autohaus Australia Pty Ltd. You can lodge it online with a MyServiceNSW Account or on the paper form. We prepare the sale paperwork and make sure it is done correctly.

My car is parked near the beach. Does salt air matter?

Tell us on the call how and where the car has been kept, including garaging and any beach driving. The offer is based on the car you actually have, and the inspection after you accept is where we check it. Coastal cars that have been washed and looked after are exactly the kind of car we buy, so send yours through.

What cars are you buying right now?

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

When do I get paid?

Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.

Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?

Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
