We buy cars all over Mackay

Mackay is a working town. Between the cane farms, the port and the mines out in the Bowen Basin, a lot of vehicles here earn their keep. When it is time to sell one, a private sale means photos, a listing, scam messages and strangers wanting a test drive on your days off. On a swing roster, that is hard to fit in.

We can buy your car instead. We are a licensed NSW motor dealer (MD 077404) buying cars Australia-wide, and we buy cars in every part of Mackay. That covers Andergrove, North Mackay, Glenella and Rural View, and the beaches at Bucasia, Shoal Point and Blacks Beach. It covers Walkerston, Marian and Mirani up the Pioneer Valley, and Sarina to the south. We also buy cars in Airlie Beach, Bowen and Emerald.

The cars we buy in Mackay

Utes come first here. We buy the Toyota HiLux, Ford Ranger and Isuzu D-MAX, plus LandCruisers and other work 4WDs. Mine-spec gear is fine, so tell us about the light bar, beacon, canopy or tray on the call. We buy family SUVs and everyday cars too. See what we look for in utes and 4WDs and SUVs.

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs from 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. Driving in and out of Moranbah adds kilometres fast, so if yours is older or higher, send it through anyway. We will tell you straight away if we can help. Ute registered to your business? Read how to sell a company car.

Sell your car to us without the hassle

You get a genuine offer by phone from a valuer who has priced cars since 1992, not an online estimate. Accept it and we pay a deposit, often the same day. The inspection happens at a time and place that suits you, even around a roster. The balance goes into your bank account, and the car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared.

Still paying it off? We deal with your lender directly and pay you any equity. Read about selling a car under finance.

Paperwork in Queensland

In Queensland the seller starts the transfer, and TMR says it must be done within 14 days of the sale. You pay no fee. The buyer pays the transfer fee and vehicle registration duty, and you remain liable for tolls and fines until the transfer goes through. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer. Read our guides to selling a car in Queensland and selling a car in Australia.

Cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs of any make, 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Finance owing is fine. Older or higher-km car? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in Queensland

The practical side, so nothing catches you out. Rules change from time to time, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Registration authority
Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)
Transfer of ownership
In Queensland the seller starts the transfer. TMR says that after you sell, you must transfer the registration within 14 days, and the seller pays no fee. The buyer pays the transfer fee and vehicle registration duty. Until the transfer goes through, you remain liable for tolls and fines on a car still registered in your name. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer, so your part is done correctly.
Safety certificate
Usually not. Queensland's version of a roadworthy is the safety certificate, and a private buyer of a registered car is owed a current one. TMR exempts cars traded to licensed motor dealers, so when you sell to a licensed dealer the private-sale rule usually does not apply. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.
Good to know
Vehicle registration duty, Queensland's stamp duty on cars, is the buyer's cost, not yours. Compulsory third party (CTP) insurance is bundled with your Queensland rego. If you pay the rego by direct debit, TMR says to remove it so no payment comes out after you have sold the car.

What to have ready

  • Photo ID
  • Registration papers
  • Service logbook and receipts for any recent work
  • Loan details, if the car is under finance
  • Bank account details for your payment

We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership, so you do not have to chase forms.

Selling your car in Mackay: your questions

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

Do you buy cars in Andergrove, Glenella and Walkerston?

Yes. We buy cars all over Mackay, from Andergrove, Glenella and the beach suburbs like Bucasia and Eimeo to Walkerston, Sarina and the Pioneer Valley. We also buy cars in the Whitsundays and in Bowen Basin towns such as Moranbah and Dysart. The inspection happens at a time and place that suits you.

How does collection work from Mackay?

You accept the offer on the phone and we pay a deposit, often the same day. The inspection is booked for a time and place that suits you, which helps if you work a roster. The balance goes into your bank account, and we arrange collection only after you confirm the funds have cleared.

Who handles the registration transfer in Queensland?

In Queensland the seller starts the transfer. TMR says that after you sell, you must transfer the registration within 14 days, and the seller pays no fee. The buyer pays the transfer fee and vehicle registration duty. Until the transfer goes through, you remain liable for tolls and fines on a car still registered in your name. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer, so your part is done correctly.

Will you buy a ute that has been used on a mine site?

Yes, send it through. Plenty of Mackay utes have worked in the Bowen Basin. Tell us on the call what is fitted, such as a light bar, beacon, flag mount, canopy or tray, and anything that has been removed. If the ute is registered to a company, tell us who the registered owner is so the right person signs the sale paperwork.

What cars are you buying right now?

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

When do I get paid?

Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.

Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?

Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
