Sell your car in Moreton Bay

Step 1 of 3: your car

Your car

Free, no obligation Takes about a minute Paid before pickup

We buy cars all over Moreton Bay

Moreton Bay covers a lot of ground. There are bayside suburbs like Redcliffe, Scarborough and Margate, and newer estates at North Lakes, Mango Hill and Griffin. Then come the Pine Rivers suburbs around Strathpine and Albany Creek, and acreage out to Dayboro and Woodford. Wherever your car is, we can buy your car.

We are a licensed motor dealer (MD 077404) buying cars Australia-wide, and the business is run by a valuer who has priced cars since 1992. Get a free valuation, or read how it works first. There is no obligation and no fees taken out of the offer.

The cars we buy in Moreton Bay

Most households here commute along the Bruce Highway or the Gateway to Brisbane, so family SUVs, hatches and sedans are everywhere. We buy late-model Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5 and Kia Carnival models, the Toyota Corolla, and any other SUV in good order. Tradies around Brendale and Narangba run utes, and we buy those too.

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs from 2021 or newer with 100,000 km or less. A long daily commute can push a newer car past that sooner than you expect. If yours is over, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in Moreton Bay without the hassle

Selling privately means listing online, then fielding scam messages, lowball offers and strangers who want a test drive. You also need to be sure the payment is genuine before you hand over the keys. Trading in is quicker, but you are negotiating with the same dealer selling you the next car. Read why people sell to us instead of trading in.

Sell your car to us and it is simpler. You get a genuine offer by phone, not an online estimate, and a deposit is often paid the same day. We inspect the car at a time and place that suits you. The balance goes into your bank account, and the car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared. Car still on finance? We deal with your lender directly and pay you any equity.

We also buy cars in Caboolture, Brisbane and on the Sunshine Coast.

Paperwork in Queensland

In Queensland, the seller starts the transfer. TMR says that after you sell, you must transfer the registration within 14 days, and it costs the seller nothing. The buyer pays the transfer fee and vehicle registration duty. Until the transfer goes through, you remain liable for tolls and fines on a car still registered in your name, which matters if you use Brisbane’s toll roads. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer, so your part is done correctly.

A private buyer of a registered car is owed a current safety certificate, Queensland’s version of a roadworthy. TMR exempts cars traded to licensed motor dealers, so that rule usually does not apply when you sell to a licensed dealer. We confirm what applies to your car on the call. See our guide to selling a car in Queensland, or selling a car in Australia for every state.

What we are buying right now

Cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs of any make, 2021 or newer, with 100,000 km or less. Finance owing is fine. Older or higher-km car? Send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away if we can help.

Selling a car in Queensland

The practical side, so nothing catches you out. Rules change from time to time, so we confirm what applies to your car on the call.

Transfer of ownership
In Queensland the seller starts the transfer. TMR says that after you sell, you must transfer the registration within 14 days, and the seller pays no fee. The buyer pays the transfer fee and vehicle registration duty. Until the transfer goes through, you remain liable for tolls and fines on a car still registered in your name. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer, so your part is done correctly.
Safety certificate
Usually not. Queensland's version of a roadworthy is the safety certificate, and a private buyer of a registered car is owed a current one. TMR exempts cars traded to licensed motor dealers, so when you sell to a licensed dealer the private-sale rule usually does not apply. We confirm what applies to your car on the call.
Good to know
Vehicle registration duty, Queensland's stamp duty on cars, is the buyer's cost, not yours. Compulsory third party (CTP) insurance is bundled with your Queensland rego. If you pay the rego by direct debit, TMR says to remove it so no payment comes out after you have sold the car.

What to have ready

  • Photo ID
  • Registration papers
  • Service logbook and receipts for any recent work
  • Loan details, if the car is under finance
  • Bank account details for your payment

We prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer of ownership, so you do not have to chase forms.

Selling your car in Moreton Bay: your questions

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call us and ask.

Do you buy cars in North Lakes, Redcliffe and Strathpine?

Yes. We buy cars across the whole of Moreton Bay, including North Lakes, Mango Hill, Redcliffe, Scarborough, Strathpine, Albany Creek, Burpengary and Bribie Island. Tell us where the car is, and after you accept our offer, the inspection happens at a time and place that suits you, at home or at work.

How does collection work from Moreton Bay?

We can price most cars from the make, model, year, kilometres and a few photos, and we make the offer over the phone. After you accept, a deposit is often paid the same day, and we inspect the car at a time and place that suits you. The balance goes into your bank account, and we arrange collection only after you confirm the funds have cleared.

Who pays for the transfer, and what about tolls, when I sell in Queensland?

In Queensland the seller starts the transfer, and TMR says you must transfer the registration within 14 days of the sale. The seller pays no fee. The buyer pays the transfer fee and vehicle registration duty. Until the transfer goes through, you remain liable for tolls and fines on a car still registered in your name. When you sell to us, we prepare the sale paperwork and help with the transfer, so your part is done correctly.

I live on Bribie Island or the Redcliffe Peninsula. Does salt air affect my offer?

It can, which is why we ask. Cars parked near the water at Bribie, Woody Point or Scarborough can pick up surface rust or pitted trim over time. Tell us about any marks on the call and send a few clear photos, and we make an offer on the car you actually have.

What cars are you buying right now?

We are buying cars, utes, SUVs and 4WDs built in 2021 or later with 100,000 km or less. Any make is welcome, and we have strong demand for European and prestige models, dual-cab utes and family SUVs. If your car sits just outside that, send it through anyway and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

When do I get paid?

Once we agree on a price, we can often pay a deposit the same day. After an inspection, the balance is paid into your bank account by bank transfer. The car is collected only after you confirm the funds have cleared, so you are never left without the car and without the money.

Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?

Yes. We deal with your lender directly to pay out the loan, then pay you any equity left over. Cars under finance usually take 2 to 3 business days to settle. If you owe more than the car is worth, the difference has to be covered before settlement, and we show you the numbers before you decide.
